Cleo  Browning was KIA after the attack  on Manhay. I believe that he was killed by the bomb drooped by the P38. Fred Beyer and Mike Spano know more about the circumstances mailcall/704.htm . - Ben

Ben

During the Bulge we did get a limited number of White Parkas.  Only a
few individuals were lucky enough to get them.   Paid to be friends with
the S4.  I still have one!!!!

From Kenton Floyd Immerfall

A special thank you to Clark Archer for addressing the memories of so many brave men who fell near Manhay, especially my Uncle Floyd Stott.  My condolences to all of the families of the other men Mr. Archer noted.  Along with Uncle Floyd, they will be remembered in the hearts not only of their buddies but of those they helped to liberate.

Thank you, too, for the translation of the beautiful and meaningful poem by Eddie Monfort.  He is a true patriot and friend of the 517th.

Re: White/Brown Parkas in the Bulge.
If you had a good Supply Officer/NCO you would be wearing one of the 1st Special Service Forces parkas in the Bulge.  When the 1st Special Service Forces was deactivated, after OPERATION DRAGOON, a limited number of these parkas and other cold weather articles were obtained by the 517th.
Regards, Tom
