Hello,
Time is getting short. We have to make plans about inviting our foreign
friends to the Portland reunion.. Funds have to be donated for this purpose. Any
member who has visited areas in France and Belgium where the 517 has history,
knows that it is hardly impossible to repay them for what they do for us when we
go over there.
Plans have to be made now to collect such funds and how to distribute
them. It would be simple to divide funds donated for this purpose and
distributed equally among our guest and let them do what they want with it. Pay
for flights, hotel, tours or get drunk.
Bob Christie, out treasurer, has agreed to collect the funds .

dear Ben,
and friends of the 517th,
We
miss last reunion, but really want to come this year,
It a bit late to tell
you cause the USA want to have the new Biometric passport and it will be
available in 2 weeks and we will know the delay to make it. In my country
you don't have to be busy if you want something !..; but we are collecting the
money for the air passage. What the 517th can take in charge financially for us
Ben ? do we have to pay for the hotels ? If our passport are OK, we will be 5 ,
Eric and wife, Me, Lizy and my son Adrien. So 2 rooms be OK if you have to put a
reservation. HOPE MY COUNTRY WILL HURRY UP FOR THIS PASSPORT !!!
speak you
soon.
warmest regards
Jean Michel and Eric

Dear
Ben,
Please post on Mail Call that my prayers and
thoughts go out to the Fritz Coffman family. I'm glad that he got to see
you guys one last time before he passed away. I'm sure that meant a lot to
him.
Also, please include my condolences to the family and
friends of Mikael Compton as well., "a good friend of the Museum and the
town of Le Muy" (I assume that he was a big supporter of the museum, etc.) "as
well as a member of the British Parachute Regiment from the Independent
pathfinder platoon that jumped in the first wave of D day in Southern France".

Thanks

MY families sympathy is with the Coffman Family in their time of
loss. We will as younger families of this group of brave men carry on their
memories and respect them always for the sacrifices they all made for our daily
freedom. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family.

nephew PFC Danny Ogniewski KIA 517th D Co.

Ben, How sorry I was to read Audrey's e-mail of Fritz
passing away. We
became very good friends. It is due to our reunions
that I now know
more of our men then I did during the war years. I am
going to miss
Fritz.
For some reason Audrey is unable to send me an e-mail
because I receive
them in a blank white space. She does receive my e-mails
ok.
Our prayers are for Audrey and the members of her
family.
We are losing to many and to fast. We must keep our
reunions going.

Gentlemen
I would like to
congratulate you on the content and detail of your site. It is a pleasure
to read and hear the history of the RCT. The detail is superb and it
stands as one of the best Airborne websites I have had the pleasure to
read.
My congratulations
goes to all who played a part in its construction and especially to the veterans
who felt able and willing to share the details of their
sacrifice.
Kind
regards,
Gordon
