Dear Mr. Barrett and veterans of the 517th
PRCT,
Thank you for your service and sacrifices. We look forward
to seeing you again.

Ben, I am glad to hear all went well and
all who attended the reunion enjoyed it. I read with interest the story of
Scott Atkinson in this mail call. Could you please forward me his e-mail as my
Uncle was one of those KIA in the building in Sospel. I would like to hear more
of the details and maybe some pictures of the building as it sits today. Thanks
for your help and God Bless Airborne
I just spoke with Leo Dean (HQ) last night, and he was full of details about
the Portland reunion. We're sad to have missed it, but are happy that it
went so well. Congratulations to the most energetic Frice women, the Davis
clan - especially Jeanne - and the Gilbert family as well. It sounds like
you did a great job for our troopers, and all of those of us who couldn't come
thank you for helping to keep the guys together and in touch. We're getting ready for the tour de France and Italy, starting in 10 days or
so. Stay tuned. Claire Giblin

My
father, Donald Fraser, my sister, my niece, and I enjoyed our time at the
Portland Reunion. Thanks for everyone's hard work.
We
look forward to the Washington, D.C. 2007 Reunion in June. We strongly support
the legacy of the 517th and encourage not only the troopers but their spouses,
widows, children, grandchildren and friends to attend the reunions.
Through our sharing of stories, pictures, and memorabilia our troopers will live
on "forever." Having the reunion in June affords teachers, students, and
children to be able to attend. For some families the only way the troopers
can attend is if they are brought by the children, grandchildren, and friends,
and they have to be off work or on vacation to do that.
This is the ideal time for everyone to participate, since teachers are not
leaving their classroom and students are not skipping school. Having it in
Washington, D.C. will provide a wide range of museums, monuments, and activities
to do. Let's all plan to be there ! ! !
