 Hello,

We have received many photos from Patricia and Roland our friends in
Sospel, France which we will put in future Mail Calls.

Sometimes I receive too much mail for one Mail Call  which I try to
limit to four printed pages. I will place it in later Mail Calls unless I forget
to do so.

News from Le Muy
France Airborne Museum

Hi Friends !

First we would like to thanks Claire for the very nice and
kind mail about their trip, Yes LE MUY remember, how can we forget ?.. each
year, we try to do it better and better, and many young reenactors are coming
from France but also Italy, and England to celebrate with us the liberation day,
as you seen on the photos of gille, one of the group. It give to the new
generation a idea of what you looks like on that day !.. many girls of that time
remember to be afraid of you on this foggy morning of august with
the green and black camouflage on your faces.!  but how can they
forgot how can we forget the sacrifice you did for us, our country and our
freedom.
PS: Claire, this is Eric and Laurence expecting the baby !
this is not in project for us for the moment..!  (Mickael, Lizy, &
son Adrien)

About our Friend
Aimé Léocard, We try to call him several times in the
last weeks but he was all the time in the garden or the restaurant of the nice
retired hospital of Frejus but we finally got him on phone yesterday. He is
doing better, unfortunately his legs artery are not good, and he have to use a
wheel chair.  he was so happy to tell me that he make for the first time a
hundred meter walking. He was so emotional to hear from us and when I gave him
the regards of all of you,  friends of the 517th. His message is
:
"My legs left me down, but my heart still the
same, with all the love and friendship I have and gave  all my life to
my Americans  buddys "
He told me that was the first time since 1944 that he was
not able to come in Le Muy to celebrate together the landing anniversary but he
is proud of both of us and happy to know that we will follow
his way to remember ,celebrate and perpetuate the story of the
517th.
We will sent you more news from France soon, speak
you soon my friends.

Ben,
Yes, I did receive your two downloads of the
documents on Jim which Fredrick Brega sent you. I had mailed the actual
clippings, etc. to Fredrick about a month ago as a thank you for being our
driver and host while we were in Nice last October. They had been in Jim’s
footlocker these past 61 years and I thought they needed a home where others
could appreciate them. Fredrick had expressed to me his desire to open a museum
in Nice, and I thought these artifacts could be added to his collection.
I
appreciated so much you sending me these downloads. You certainly do such a
tremendous job with your 517th website. Without it, I never would have known my
brother as I do today. I feel compelled now to do all I can to keep his memory
alive. Thank you Ben so much for this.
Your friend,
Terry (Birder)
Casey

My mistake.  The pictures were sent in by
Gilles GUIGNARD, one of the re-enactors, not David Jordan.  David has
previously sent us photos of Robert A. Harp, and I made a typo in copying the
web page.   Now
corrected.

Ben - Do you know of any 517th tour trips going to
Europe next year?

Thanks

Sir,
Thank you for your response, I will make the correction
immediately.  I enjoy the 517th site and have it saved on my
favorites.  I have a relative that served in the 509th so I am working
on developing a 509th site.  I hope to have it up soon.  Not much is
out on the internet for those that served in Southern France.  ADT is
working on conducting a commemorative jump in Southern France in 2007 we would
be honored to take 517th Veterans with us (We have arranged for free travel and
lodging for Veterans in the past)
Have a good day!

Thank you, Patricia, for your information.  I
will made the necessary additions and I thank you for keeping the memory of our
fathers contributions fresh in your minds.  They are amazing
men.

Best regards,
