 Hello,

I am still having trouble getting emails to everyone.  The emails are always available on www.517prct.org/archives.
I may not be able to send mail call for a few days.  AOL does like sending to a large bulk mails when I'm signed on as a guest.  It will take them 72 hours to fix the problem.

Ben,  Enjoy yourself out West and HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY WITH THE MEMBERS
OF YOUR FAMILY.
You mentioned a DVD of the 517th in the Battle of The Bulge. Is it
available? if so, I would like to obtain one. I did not see it on the
History channel.
As a great friend of mine (age 93) would say,
"Have a good one!"
                                                       Jim Royer
The video is available.  I'll send the information on purchase when I return home.

Company Commander, Hq. Co., 3rd Bn. A very much admired leader.
We send our sincere prayers to his family. He will always be remembered

Dear Ben  Mail Call,

I was saddened to hear of Bill Pencak's passing.  My wife, Marianne, and I spent an afternoon with him and his wife in TN a few years ago.  He regaled us with many stories of the 517th and his life in the military.

Mr. Pencak was the very first trooper to respond to my inquiry to Mail Call, for stories about my father.  He was very informative and helpful to me.

I wish his family the very best.

son of Lt. Bob Reber, HQ 3rd

Mr. Barrett,
Hope you had a great Christmas,

I’ve attached the autograph sections from the 517 Parachute Combat Team booklet that my Dad, Jim Sutcliffe, H company, had.  There are names from Troopers and family members that I know receive e-mail, and I thought they might enjoy this.  When I saw that Rick Sweet was looking for information on his Dad, I decided to send this in.  Mr. Sweet’s autograph is in the booklet.  Thanks to the 517 website I’ve had the great fortune to make contact with a few of these people by phone or e-mail.  My dad was friendly with a lot of Troopers from D company too, so all of the signatures are not just H company troopers.

Thanks and have a happy New Year

I'll put the attachments on a mail call when I return home, safely back at my own computer.

Dad,

After the last few weeks of travel, I finally managed to find some time over the last few days to catch up on some 517 postings.  As I noted to Heather Riley, I finally got around to posting all her photos of the Blue Book magazine articles from 1947-1948.  Someday, I would like to be able to scan in high-resolution copies that will be easier to read in sequence, but what is there will do for now.

In addition, I added a lot of the unit history onto the Wikipedia (an online encyclopedia) article about the 517th.  Most of that I just summarized from the Short History article on our web site.  I will continue more cleanup of the Wikipedia article, but I thought that the existing entry needed a little more meat on it.
