Kathy McWilliams

Hi Mr. Barrett, my name is Kathy McWilliams.  I am Louis D. Holzworth's (Sarge) grand-daughter.  I know Sarge was extremely active in keeping up with his wartime buddies.  I wanted to let you know that Sarge passed away on January 12, 2007 at 8:15 AM in his home in Spring Hill, FL.  Please get the word out to anyone that knew Sarge, I would greatly appreciate it.  I live in Virginia and regretfully he really did not have a funeral or memorial service.  If anyone from your organization would like more information, they can contact me at kathymcw@yahoo.com.

Thank you.

Hi Ben,
I Thought Id write you to tell you tomorrow is a very sad day
for me.  Dad has been gone for 31 years now.  It's so very hard to believe it
seems like yesterday.  Who said it gets better with time.  Dad birthday was July
4th he turned 80 years old.  If it wasn't for this site I really don't know ,it
has given me peace of mind, and also I feel very close to Dad.  By the way dad
got 3 purple hearts and 2 bronze stars, plus 10 other medals.  The Army sent
them to me.  Thank you for helping me there.
You all are all in my thoughts always thank you so much.

BJ Spencer

BJ Spencer (eldest daughter of Dick Spencer of 517th) here. I wanted to thank Joseph Calder for sending the wonderful old photos of my father! I have shared them with my sister and mother. Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness, Joseph! BJ

Michael Carrillo

Hi! Ben, I hope all is well with you and yours. I spent Christmas with my folks in Texas. We were able to take my mother out of the convalescent hospital three days. I do believe both mom and dad had a wonderful time with us all there. Two things: I need to change my email address from juno to : m.s.carrillo@sbcglobal.net and if anyone wants send regular mail to my dad they can to:

Jesus Y. Carrillo

1201 Travis Ave

Garland, TX 75040

I don't like the fact that he is living alone. He doesn't eat as well as he should and he won't leave his house. Thanks for all you do. I'm going to try to make the Palm Springs reunion even if it is for a few days.

Peter Jansson

Dear Ben:  I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get in touch with you.  I think you heard that my dad, Bertil Jansson was in a bad pedestrian accident in Plymouth on December 29th.  He is currently still in ICU at Boston Medical Center.  Slowly he has gotten better, and we hope to get him out of BMC soon and into Braintree Rehabilitation in the near future.  As such, I/we have not booked anything in regards to the June reunion in Washington D.C.  It is now, and remains my hope that Dad will progress enough so that we could attend this gala event.  We both were looking forward to it, but right now I can't be sure how all of this is going to end up.  Thank you for all of your past kindness, and again, we very much hope we can meet you at the reunion.  Peter Jansson

Ben,  I hope you had a wonderful reunion in Kissimmee. O how I hated to
miss it. I never though I would spend 3 weeks in the hospital.
It's a tough fight, but I am slowly coming back. Will need future
surgery to unblock the arteries in my neck. I also had a very serious
bout with gout. Never in my life had I had so much pain.  Give my
regards to all and a brief run-down on the reunion. We hope to make the
one in D.C.  Say hi to all.

Cecil Doty

Hello Ben and all the 517th Troopers.

It has been a long time since I had time to write, for the past two years, medical problems  for both Arlene and myself kept me from doing any thing but going to the Doctors.  We are both getting along  quite well now

My driving was restricted to daylight driving hours only, but with another Cataract Surgery all restrictions have been removed.  I got a new car 18 months ago ,I've finely got 6000 miles on it, most of the miles were going to the Doctors.

I hope you had a great reunion in Florida.,  I've missed the last two reunions and had hope of making the one Washington D C  but I don't  think I'll be able to make it.

I'll be mailing a donation to Bob Christie  for the Thunderbolt.

Bill Goswick

My name is Bill Goswick and I am looking for information regarding my uncle who was in the 517 PIR. His name is PFC Jesse O. Goswick of Piermont N.Y. and he was KIA in the South of France. Our family has only one blurry photo of him and I was wondering if any members (or their families) of the 517th would have any photos of him that we could possibly obtain?
Thanking you in advance,
Bill Goswick

Ben,
Thanks for the fast response. This is exciting because I have never met my uncle and it would be interesting to hear from fellow servicemen who have. Would you happen to know where I can get a patch for the 517 PIR? Just about all of the men in my family have been in the military and I am putting together a family collage of our various services.
Have fun at the reunion,
Bill
