Hi, Ben -

I see in last Mail Call that Darrell Egner has great news for us: Reunion 2008 will be in St. Louis and hosted by Chris Lindner!  And if I'm misspelling that, it's Darrell's fault!

We are thrilled on both counts!  We want to keep seeing annual national reunions, and we are so happy to welcome Chris to the ranks of reunion hosts!  With the help of Armed Forces Reunions, Inc, it'll be outstanding!  Chris, you rock!

So now we have: January Mini in Kissimmee, April Mini in Palm Springs, and National Summer reunion in St. Louis!  I have to say that this group knows how to party!  (don't worry, Chris.  We'll all help with the liquor runs!).

Fantastic news!

We're pleased with the St. Louis reunion choice.
Also glad to know that we might be able to get a DVD of Cheney's speech since we could not be there.
Thanks to all who have and will work together to keep the 517th memories alive.

Hi Ben

Thanks so much for the two books - I've stated to read the history already - some brilliant stuff in just the
first few pages (loved the mascot!) - how much do I owe you Ben?

Finally thank you so much for signing them - these books will truly have a pride of place on my shelves.

Regards
Vic

Note to Frank Ramos:

If Patrick O’Donnell is looking for stories of Hispanics in WWII, don’t forget that we have a few brief stories from the 517th that could be starting points.  These notes are on the Soldier Stories page.

Not Ready To Die - Autobiography of Nacho Vasquez

Nila Gott has edited this autobiography of Ignacio (Nacho) Ramirez Vasquez.

Not Ready To Die is the life of a man spent trying to survive in the harsh New Mexico badlands during the 1930s. World War II took him into the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team, where he made the famous Dragoon jump. The book contains stories of his survival.
