Flave: He was a good man when I knew him and I was
interested to know what he had done with his life after that side splitting
farewell speech at Joigny. He carried through the rest of his life as he
had in the outfit.
Thanks to you for getting in touch in a way that made the
stories come out. I may have mentioned that I called once and talked with
your mother when you father was on the golf course.
Highest regards to you and the family of a fine trooper,

This is the first I've know about this DVD and I hope it isn't
too late for this late-comer to get my hands on a copy (I will handle that with
Karen as directed). I'm sure it is well worth the expense of receiving it
... and I look forward to that. I trust those of you who put time and
energy into that project must have found it to be an enjoyable endeavor and that
you have deepened your friendships.
As I remember it .... WAR WAS HELL, and it was boring at
times, and HUMOR helped us get through those days and nights .... and to return
home with some degree of sanity. Hopefully, our current warriors are
having their moments of helpful humor and after some number of years the humor
will reduce the amount of hell they are experiencing. God bless them and
God bless you and your cohorts!

Glad to hear you're still hanging in with us! It does
gladden the heart of myself and my wife. We look forward to meeting you in
this life or the next! It has been a long time since we've become
affectionate to someone whose face we've never seen nor whose voice we have
never heard. God's continued blessings on your ... His peace, His
Joy.

Hi Ben
We have been waiting patiently and
finally received the Dvd about the 517th.I found it to be very interesting and I
appreciate every detail that has gone into it. I know it was hard work and took up
a lot of the personal time of the ones who put it together for everyone. There
were some who I heard had some great ideas that would make something better with
the Dvd. May I suggest that they should volunteer their time and efforts to help
out at the right moments when their friends need them. It is very hard to go
back a second time or a third when problems are so small and does get
expensive. If every time we made a dvd and it had to be produced by Ken Burns I'm
afraid it would be to costly. I think that I got a great deal for $5.00 and I am
grateful for the gift and I would like to thank the ones responsible for their
hard work. Ben please let them know that I appreciate them and enjoy the DVD. I
just had Knee surgery for a torn meniscus and have one more to go. I am looking
forward to seeing you all again at St Louis... my extended family. Thank
you

Ben and
Bob,
Thanks so much for posting the pictures I had sent
in. I received an e-mail from Yvonne Rose (Herbert Downs’s daughter)
telling me her father was in one of the photos. Good stuff. I’ve tried to
explain in the past, but words can not express the joy and satisfaction I get
from the Website and Mail Call. Thanks so much for all that you do I
really appreciate it.
Hopefully someday we’ll
meet
Thanks
