Ben i have been putting together a display of my medals and ribbons for my grandkids, and was shocked to find out no military store in the country has a Belgian Croix De Guerre and no reason for the lack there-of.  Does anyone have an answer and perhaps a -place to locate one.  I really can't believe the Belgian government stopped issuing.  Hope to get an answer,  Thanks  Bill Christian  Hope to see you in the Springs in April.

Irma and Arnold

Dear Ben, dear friends,
With our best wishes for a Happy New Year, we would like to send this information to Bill Christian; A member of our Reception Committee, le Chevalier Maurice Massange de Colombs, will try to meet the belgian Minister of Defense to obtain for Bill the Belgian Croix de Guerre. Mr Massange de Colombs has many contacts in Brussels as everywhere in the world. He is a very devoted member. To morrow We shall send some photos of the ceremonies in St Jacques and Logbiermé. Many people attended the ceremonies to day and Father Radermecker had a special prayer for Don Fraser during the Mass in St Jacques Church. Our Love from Trois-Ponts. Irma and Arnold.

Hi Ben,

Wanted to pass this along to you. I ordered the Presidential Memorial Certificate for my husband, George Mitchell  ... it is beautiful.
Below I have listed info on how to obtain these.

Best Regards,
Kay Mitchell

Little known honor for Veterans

About 90 percent of deceased veterans are buried in private cemeteries. As a result, their families may not have been notified that they’re entitled to presidential recognition of their loved ones’ service, if they were honorably discharged. Awareness of the engraved Presidential Memorial Certificate isn’t a problem for the families of vets buried in national cemeteries, which routinely pass out information about the certificates.

But some private cemeteries admit they do not, said Bob Manning, who works at Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee and is part of a team trying to get the word out on behalf of the National Cemetery Administration.

Families of deceased vets who would  like a Presidential Memorial Certificate — more than one can be provided to next of kin and loved ones.

A request form that can be downloaded and printed is online at

Thanks very much for sharing the "Desk" story in the last Mail Call.  That teacher deserves a metal, what a wonderful story.  I average 50 forwards every day and this tops them all.

Thanks again,
