Hi Ben,
All well here or at least Bill is still moving
around. His legs are bad so it has gotten to the point where going to church on
Sunday is that about it. Has to always use the walker and maybe soon the wheel
chair. So it goes.
Would you please send me Chris's
address.
Thanks
Hope all is well

Hello everyone,
The long anticipated wait is
over.......the baby has been born......The Thunderbolt is in the mail,
traveling all over the United States, Canada and Europe!! Are we
excited?? Absolutely!! Claire and I have been waiting for this
announcement to be in Mail Call for a long time, actually since the time we left
Kissimmee. We have worked hard to make this newsletter something that
would be of interest to all of you, and that would have something new for those
that receive Mail Call and as well for those that do not receive Mail
Call.
During this whole process, both Claire and I have been
educated in many ways regarding a newsletter from the very first idea of what to
write, clear through to it being taken to the Post Office. While it has
been a lot of work, it has been a great satisfaction to see it from its
beginning to getting to your home for you to read.
We would like
to hear your comments, the good ones as well as those that might help us to make
The Thunderbolt even a better publication. This newsletter is for
our 517th troopers and their families, and we want it to be the very best for
them.
Many times Claire and I have said how much we appreciated all of
the work that Bob Christie did for the years that he put out the newsletter, and
for Merle McMorrow in the years he was editor and publisher. We give them
our thanks for their work.
The wine glasses and wine will come out
tonight to celebrate our first issue. We hope that you like The
Thunderbolt as much as we do.
Hello!
Someone has just signed your guestbook!

Hi All,
I am Adam from the UK. Have been an Airborne enthusiast for not sure
how
many years now, and an avid collector of WWII memorabilia. I am
currently
working on a book about the actions of the 517th, 551st and 509th
during the
Battle Of The Bulge. Me and my father have rented an apartment in
Belgium
especially for research purposes and are over most weekends. Any
help
regarding the 517ths actions in Belgium, do please E-mail me, i'm
especially
interest in veteran accounts.
This is a great website, and
a god send and its great being able to spend
hours searching through the
hundreds of photos the website provides.
To all those who served in the
517th PRCT, thank you.
Regards to all, hope to get to know you all
soon.

Love America
When my twin brother and I reached the age of seventeen, my dad informed us
that he was sending
us to a military school. We might receive some life insurance. We were
there a few months and the the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
Being a Republican, I did not trust President Roosevelt and at first I
called it Mr. Roosevelt's war. After
a short time, I realized that the people killed at Pearl Harbor
were ALL Americans. That this was an American war, I made up mind as soon
as I could, I would join an fighting outfit, eventually I joined a
paratroop outfit.
On 9/11, President Bush had no more to do with it, than President Roosevelt
had to with Pearl Harbor.
President Bush vowed, we would fight fight terrorists all over the world as
this is a global war. We need to support our troops and increase the size of our
forces. We all have to work at the effort.
We have no fences around American, as yet, and I suggest these hate
America people leave and there by unit the rest of America. Love it or
leave it.
