517TH ST. LOUIS REUNION BEGINS:THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2008 THRU MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2008THE BANQUET WILL BE ON SUNDAY JUNE 29
Information and Registration Forms:
I have to say that the 517 PRCT is moving and shaking!
We are getting ready to meet in St. Louis, AND The Thunderbolt has just again gone to press! Look for the photos from the Palm Springs Party! They are quite an advertisement for the fun this outfit has at reunions! The Auxiliary Business Meeting is especially...hmmmm...interesting? Let's just say that the vets are not alone in enjoying their reunions. I am going to try to attend next year - who doesn't love a party?
Chris and Bev have been hard at work for months now, and the finish line is in sight! In just a few weeks, we'll be starting to trickle into the St. Louis airport and the hotel (what an incredible facility! I can't wait!).
If you've already signed up, thank you thank you!
If you're still on the fence, please get off on the YES side! Unbelievably, there are still new faces at each reunion! Ben actually stumbled on a gentleman who was injured in the same attack he had been injured in - totally by accident, just in the course of introducing themselves and chatting. New friends from your last reunion will be your old friends this time around, and the spirit is contagious.
Family members: this is a great, great opportunity to bring the kids! This will be the last generation that will hear WWII history from the mouths of those who made it and lived it. Even a few minutes in the Hospitality Suite are an education.
PLUS - we're investing in an oral history project at this reunion! We'd really like as many vets as possible to come and participate. Bring a piece of memorabilia and tell the story. I will never forget when Silas told me about a piece of equipment that saved his life, showing me where the shrapnel or bullet had hit. My dad just showed me his leave papers in 5 languages, giving him permission to be in Paris. He had never noticed that they weren't signed! Good thing the MPs didn't pick him up!
Please, please, meet us in St. Louis! I can't wait!
Richard and Katherine Wheeler will be at St. Louis Reunion
Good Morning Ben: Under the list of deceased
members of the 517th, Hal Jeffcoat was in “F” Co. Best regards to you &.
