Dear Family and Friends,
There was more than one "D-Day" during WW
II. In fact, there were several.
On August 15, 64 years ago,
several thousand American paratroopers dropped from the skies behind enemy
lines into Southern France, paving the way for a full Allied assault that
ultimately met up with the northern forces (from Normandy) at the Battle of the
Bulge.
These paratroopers - the 517th - were the first Army
"rangers." They were all volunteers for this special force, and their
mission was considered "suicidal." My father was one of them who
miraculously survived, praise God.
The "mission" was called
Anvil-Dragoon, and thousands of French people were liberated over the following
days and weeks.
The important lesson here is that these
French people and their children continue to celebrate to this
day.
As I write, there are
surviving WW II American paratroopers and their families and children who are in
southern France being honored for this miraculous event, once again, and
celebrating with these French people. Please read about it for yourself in
the following announcements.
I hope and pray that knowing about
these celebrations will fill your heart with tremendous pride in our great
Country that continues to sacrifice for human freedom and liberty around the
world.
As importantly, may we try to understand what it
must be like to have freedom, liberty and life itself stolen by godless,
unspeakably evil people.
These French people sure understand and
remember --- or should I say, they have never forgotten.
Time to wake up, America.
May God continue to bless this great Nation and her Soldiers.
At the end of the following documents is a link to an outstanding
documentary on the Battle of the Bulge, with actual footage. This is a
spell-binding testimony of not only our Soldiers, but of God's
miraculous Hand in these unbelievable
events.
Click
on this link, then click on "Battle of the Bulge" which is the second selection
on the right. You may have to endure a commercial or 2.
