Ben,

Been gone awhile and maybe back awhile?  Ben, thank you for keeping me and the rest of the world in "touch."

I know most by now are aware of the loss of Don Lassen, of the Static Line. Don was the champion and pathfinder of locating, contacting and conscripting any one who had ever exited from an aircraft (military) while in fright (flight). If not for his efforts few, (if any), of us would ever have met each other on a second occasion. He was my friend and a tough old bird. We differed with each other on many occasions, but he definitely was "Mr. Airborne." We all of the Airborne are indebted to him. God Bless and may he rest in peace.

Ben,
Merle McMorrow's comments truly saddens me, but I understand what he is
saying.   As a son of a 517th paratrooper I know how much my Dad enjoyed
attending as many reunions as he could.  He truly loved you guys and
regarded you as his brothers.  I want to say how very much I enjoy
meeting with the 517th troopers and hearing their stories at the 3
reunions I have been to.  For those of you who can attend a reunion I
want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your willingness to
come and talk with all of us son, daughters, nephews, nieces, and just
good friends of the 517th.  It looks like it is my turn to step up to
the plate and host a reunion.  I want everyone to know I am doing
everything I can to make this reunion as nice and fun as possible.  If
you have any questions about Salt Lake City please email at
lcurtis@utah.gov. or call me at 801-232-0009.

Best to All
