Hi
Ben.....Rick here...(Grandson from Overland Park, KS)
Bob and Mildred
seem to be doing fine. Mom (who lives in Lakeland) checks in with them quite
often. They are very active in their church - good for the heart and
soul.
I'll let Bob (Christie) know you are trying to reach out to
him.
Thanks for checking in.

Hi
Ben,
Thank you so much for all that you do for us. I
look forward to all of the mail calls that I receive.
It was great to see the pictures of you and Howard
Hensleigh together, two great men whom I admire very much. It was good to see
what he looks like these days. I have seen pictures of him in uniform with the
517th and he is still a handsome individual. I treasure the conversations that I
have had with both of you and the things that you both have taught me about the
517th and the war. I will never forget what a pleasure it has been to attend the
reunions and be in the company of the 517th and "our" families. For those who
have never been, you don't know what you are missing and you'd better make it to
Salt Lake City for time is marching on and we are losing these men of the
greatest generation and their stories every day. Thanks again for
everything you have done to preserve the history of the 517th prct. By the way,
have you ever found any record of when my dad Odas was wounded? From what I know
it was either the 5th or 6th of January 1945.

In January 1993, Charlie Pugh resurrected the Wings
newsletter after over a 4 year absence. This also marked the 50th
anniversary year of the 596/517 (1943-1993). In this issue there are a lot of
photographs and a lot of stories, so please be aware that this issue is
significantly larger than the other issues (almost 18.5mb).
The download might take longer, but I think you
will find it well worth it....
...and the article that includes a full index of
the issues that have been scanned to date;

Subject: America Before Pearl
Harbor - Early Kodachrome Images
I found this
quite interesting. It is all old photos from the United States,
taken in the late '30s and early 40's before Pearl Harbor .
