Ben:
I see Gene Snyder and others are plagued with the
same question I use to get; namely "How many Germans did you kill." After
my first presentation I indicated I would be willing to answer questions.
That question invariably came up. Future presentations began with an
introduction that I would answer questions at the end of the presentation but if
I received embarrassing questions like "how many men did you kill" I would ask
"how many girls have you kissed in your class". That put an end to any
uncomfortable questions.
I checked with the teacher for her approval before
using that approach and she agreed that it would make the students more aware
that certain questions aren't appropriate.
Our prayers are with Bill and
Babbie.

Dear Ben,
What a nice honor bestowed upon you by
McMorrow 's exchange with a12 year old youth who was happy to
know that Merle knew Mr. Barrett. I too am proud to know Mr.
Barrett, who does so much for our news exchange, etc.
ON ANOTHER NOTE,
PEANIE AND I EXPRESS OUR CONCERNS AND PRAYERS FOR COL. BOYLE AND DEAR
BABBIE.

Ben,
That was a very, very special entry you posted recently from Merle Mc
Morrow. Thanks again for all you veterans did and still do.

Some of the recent emails relating to school
visitations opened a floodgate of memories. A few days after my visits I
would receive a packet of "thank you" letters from the students. One
teacher had each student design his/her own Thank You Card. One in
particular that I have stands out above all the others. His artistic
ability for a 5th grader was amazing. The front of the card had the
message NICE to SEE YOU. After opening the card, the left-hand side had a
fellow coming in a beautifully drawn parachute. The other side of the card
had the message THANKS FOR DROPPING IN.
I spent the rest of the afternoon going through all
the warm, sincere messages I had received from the kids.
