Peter Jannson

Dear Mr. Barrett:

It is with the heaviest of heart that I want to inform you that our Dad, Bertil G. Jansson of B Company passed away today.  He never spoke of his service record until he was much older.  After his bad accident in December of 2006, he never was quite the same man.  However, the trip to the reunion in Washington D.C. of June 2007 was, in our mind, the highlight of his life after the accident.  Our family would once again like to thank the Barrett family, Mr. Trooper Walsh, the committee of that reunion, and most assuredly the members of the 517th for the memory of bringing Dad to those he admired most.  He passed away peacefully, with his four children and daughter in law at his side.  As his son, I want to personally say that I have never known, been associated with, or admired more than my Dad.  He spoke glowingly of his 517th partners, and he left a legacy unmatched in his children's eyes.  You are truly the greatest, and Dad brought that home and tried to instill that pride in his children, the things he learned as a paratrooper.  The Jansson's send all their love to the members of the 517th and their families.  With utmost respect, Peter Jansson.
