Claire Giblin

Hi, Ben -

I see the tributes pouring in on Mail Call for Bill Boyle, and it is obvious he's in everyone's hearts and prayers.

I am especially touched by Babbie's request that donations be sent, in lieu of flowers, to the 517 film project.  The film project was not begun until St. Louis, in 2008.  Bill had attended his last reunion in DC, in 2007.

It's truly a selfless request, since Bill will be in the film only through the memories of his men and the story of the 517.  It is classic Colonel Boyle to the end: putting his men and the outfit first.  It is no wonder he was so revered.

Thank you to the entire Boyle family for this tribute.

Dear friends of America,
All of us, members of CADUSA, US Airborne Reception Committee, are very sad about the passing of Colonel BOYLE; we are so grateful to him, we are  proud  to have had in our live the honour to meet such a heroes. We shall never forget what he did for us here in Ardenne. Please accept our sincere condolences. A Mass will be celebrated in St Jacques church for his memory. We shall pray for him, for his family and all his 517th friends. God bless you. Arnold, Irma and Maria

Hi Ben

I visited w/ Dad yesterday....you all know him as Chop Chop .....we talked about his rooming w/ Col Boyle in France during the 50th reunion.  He said that Bill Lewis assigned them to be roommates!  Dad has two mementos from Col Boyle which he shows me each time I visit him.....a little figurine of a horse and a framed certificate from the Vatican when they went to Rome during the reunion.  He asked me to relay to all of you.......

he thinks of the 517th every day and loves you all.  You are always in his thoughts.
