MailCall news:

To all 517th airborne,

This is tom weil and I just wanted everyone to know that I am still here although I haven't kept in touch in a while.

Airborne All The Way

Bob:  what a fabulous job you are doing.  Thank you.  Pat Seitz and Alan Greer

PS  Happy St. Patrick's Day to all the Irish and adopted-Irish members of the 517th and their clans.

Bob:

I wrote a column for the Static Line a couple of days after Ben passing.  However, the editor had already sent the magazine to the printers for publishing.  Therefore the column on Ben won't be in the next issue but the one following a month later.

We'll see you in DC.

Hello Bob;

I really enjoyed mail call 1978. I especially enjoyed the photo of your Mom and Dad. I can tell by the photo that they are so in love with one another.

Thank you for sharing,

Teresa (your dad's flight attendant friend from Seattle)

Good morning,

I should have probably sent this out sooner, but the HBO mini-series The Pacific started last night. The mini-series will be a 10-part series and should be airing several times a week in case you missed the first night. The first episode began with the "Old Breed" Marine 1st Division at Guadalcanal.

Even if you did not participate in the PTO I think this should be an accurate portrayal of what life was like fighting from island to island.

I would love to hear any comments you may have after you watch any of the episodes, anytime.

I hope you are doing well. I am of course still doing interviews, collecting stories, and looking for anything that may have been used in the war as well.

Hi, Joanne,

At this time Lud and I plan to attend your Father's service.  Lud has been a little under the weather but we feel he will be O.K. long before then.  We are looking forward to seeing the Barrett family again, even under these sad circumstances.  We would like to be included in your dinner plans for that evening, if possible, and also to visit the WWII Memorial.  We will be renting a car in DC so we probably could accommodate a couple of passengers, if needed.

Sincerely,

Lud (Gibbons) and Marty (Donahoo)
