Friends of the Airborne & Special Operations Museum:

Don't forget to celebrate August 16th, the anniversary of Army airborne! On that day in 1940, the members of the Army's Parachute Test Platoon took to the skies to make history as the first US Paratroopers.

The ASOM will celebrate the day in grand fashion. For more information on the event, visit our website at www.asomf.org.

Hello Mr. Cooper,

If you wish to obtain medals from govt', call your local VA and get the appropriate form - something like DA 1577.  You must send that form to Dept of Army Personnel in St. Louis along with Army Serial # & SS# or perhaps copy of your discharge papers.  A few weeks later you will receive a letter verifying all medals due you.  However it will state that the medals will be forwarded to you with in the year.  If you don't want to wait - after you receive the verification letter, go to www.medalsofAmerica.com and you can purchase them.  That is what I did for my father and father in law.

Good luck,

John Bramswig
son in law of Ed Marconi Co A

Don't forget that this is election year.Forget the red tape. Send a copy of your discharge to your congressman or congresswoman and let them do the work for you They can get action quicker than you can .
