"As we remember the tragic events of
September 11, 2001, and the thousands of innocent lives lost on that day, we
recall as well the outpouring of compassion and faith that swept our Nation in
the face of the evil done that day. In designating September 6-8 as National
Days of Prayer and Remembrance, I ask all Americans to join together in cities,
communities, neighborhoods, and places of worship to honor those who were lost,
to pray for those who grieve, and to give thanks for God's enduring blessings on
our land. And let us, through prayer, seek the wisdom, patience, and strength to
bring those responsible for the attacks to justice and to press for a world at
peace.
In the aftermath of the attacks, the words of the Psalms brought
comfort to many. We trust God always to be our refuge and our strength, an
ever-present help in time of trouble. Believing that One greater than ourselves
watches over our lives and over this Nation, we continue to place our trust in
Him.
As we confront the challenges before us, I ask you to join me during
these Days of Prayer and Remembrance in praying for God's continued protection
and for the strength to overcome great evil with even greater good."
--President George W. Bush, from the Presidential Proclamation for National
Days of Prayers and Remembrance to be held September 6-8, 2002

Re: French Thank You!

Hi Ben,
Joyce has
applied for the French Certificate two years in a row and have had absolutely no
answer from them. We followed their directions very carefully including my
discharge with all the 5 battles and enclosed a self addressed stamped
envelope.
The first time we applied was May 2001 and the last was May 8. 2002
with a letter inquiring what happened to my application on March 11, 2002. We
had to send to the French Consulate in Atlanta, GA. I really do not care, but
Joyce would like to put it with memoirs from the war time. I know that Merle
applied for it and I did E-mail him to ask him if he received it but he has not
read the mail that was sent the beginning of last week. Wonder if any of the
guys received this "Frendh Thank Your"?
I have been going for epidural shots
at a pain clinic here for my back problems. Have had three and it has helped but
it knocks my Diabetes out of control for about a week. Lucky we have this center
here as I was hardly able to walk but now getting around pretty good.
We will
not be attending the mini in Florida. Sorry not to be able to make it as we
enjoyed the last two years there. Hope everyone has a great time. We will try to
make the reunion in OK but will have to see how things are as the time gets
nearer.
It was with great sorry that we heard of the passing of our good
friend Jane Mars. Our sympathy goes out to Gene. We did send a card. We enjoyed
seeing them in Bismark so I guess we never know what is going to happen to
us.
Best wishes to all and to you and Fran, Ben.
Leo and Joyce
Turco

Had L-knee surgery in
93...Results great however, in 95 became infected and had a re-do. Lost some
flexibility after the last surgery otherwise A-Okay.  No pain since. If you
plan on one get all the information about possible infection etc. Also for how
long is the inplant good for.  Was told it was good for only 10 years.
Lastly, consider your the status of your health and attitude. There also is the
possibility of a blood clot and
stroke.
