Patriot Day, 2002
By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2002, as Patriot Day. I call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities, including remembrance services and candlelight vigils. I also call upon the Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as well as appropriate officials of all units of government, to direct that the flag be flown at half-staff on Patriot Day. Further, I encourage all Americans to display the flag at half-staff from their homes on that day and to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. eastern daylight time, or another appropriate commemorative time, to honor the innocent victims who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand two, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and twenty-seventh.
GEORGE W. BUSH

Ben,

I just found your site the other day and I would like
to thank you.  My Grandfather was Harry A. Hill, Pfc
with Company B of the 517th (he passed away in 1989).
I've never really known much about his experiences in
WWII, as he would never talk much about it.  I am
trying to learn as much as I can and gather as many
accounts, photos, etc. as I can so that my children
can get a sense of who their great-grandfather was.

Please ad me to your mailing list, and if you know of
anyone who may have known my Grandfather, please pass
along my address/e-mail address.

Thank you, again-

Hi Ben:

I just wanted to respond to Leo and Joyce Turco regarding the "Thank You America Certificate" from the French Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia.  I sent for my Dad's certificate and it took only 3 months to get it.  I filled out the paper work for the website and mailed it in with the necessary forms.  The French Consulate called me and wanted to present it to my Dad in person, which he was unable to do.

If I were the Turco's I would call the French Consulate and get a name to send the information to, explain that they have sent it in twice and have not received it.

I did get the Certificate for my Dad and it's very nice and it also come with a letter from France.  The  address and phone number for the French Consulate are on the web-site for where you can obtain the application for the Certificate.

Subj: Joint Replacement

>From Health Section, The Charlotte Observer 9/9/02 <www.charlotte.com>

"Since joint-replacement surgery became popular in the 1970s, doctors have routinely cautioned their patients to wait as long as possible to get a new hip or new knee.  With artificial joints lasting between 10 and 20 years, what would happen when they wore out?  A second replacement was unlikely to work as well as the first.
Now doctors are more optimistic the joints they're installing will last longer than the artificial joints of 20 years ago. But their advice hasn't changed much:  Put it off as long as you can, because the younger you are, the more likely it is you'll have to do this two or three times."
"Aftercare is important with joint replacement, and doctors make sure their patients aren't under the illusion that they will return to their former activities with no restrictions.  New material and techniques are emerging that might make the first joint last longer and subsequent revisions work better."

Hi Ben,  Tell Turco that I received the "French Thanky
Certificate" within weeks of sending for it.......
Also would like information on getting on the Bronze
Star list.  Didn't get it until 1965, if that makes a
difference.  I think I'm on the Purple Heart list..
Wrote Bill Mauldin... just hope they read it to him.
