Ben, good to see you and your charmig wife at
the reunion. I thought the whole gathering went
very well BUT I hate to see the ranks thinning.
For your info----Ed Flannery is still in the hospital (Indian River
Memorial (Room 325)
Hospital Tel No : (772)567-4311)
I've talked to him and last evening he sounded
"up" and was in good spirits. They have done some tests but as I
understand it they have not completed all testing. I'll let you know if
I have any positive info. He's really a fine airborne trooper and I know
many of the 517'ers remember and respect him.
AIRBORNE !!!!!!!!

Dear Ben,
I am Frederic Brega 29year-old born/living in Nice. My hobby in WWII
history.
One of your reader Mr. Bill Cornett (son of S.Sgt Joe Cornett) published a
picture of his father in 44 - South of France, asking an identification.
This picture has been taken in Nice in the middle of the famous Place
Masséna (biggest in Nice) where the population met to welcome the liberators
in Summer 44.
I would be happy to be in touch with Mr. Bill Cornett and give him more
info.
With best regards,
Frederic

Hi Ben;
I've got a number of photos my Dad accumulated over the years. Several of
them, I'm sure, are from his 517th days. I have access to a scanner, can get
them into jpeg files and send them along for posting on the website; but, I
don't want to clutter up the site with extraneous, material unrelated to the
RCT. Do you have any suggestions how I can cull through them to determine
which are 517th and which aren't? I'd like, eventually, to be able to find
out who are the other people in the photos and get them copies if they're
interested in having them. Let me know at your convenience. Thanks! Mark
Landreth

H i, Ben. Good to hear from you. With respect to Fredrick Mitchell, I do not remember the name but I will write Gloria Schinkal, with some words that might help. I recall the time very well it was just outside Trois Ponts.
It was good seeing the Mail Call moments ago. Thanks as always.

Ben;
Thanks for replying to my a-mail on the photo of the
liberators, I will get in touch with the gentleman from Nice.
Sounds like all had a good time at the reunion. My father attended quite a few reunions before his death in 1995. I have some photos of past reunions that were among his 517th things. I will try and make it to a reunion in the near future, I have lots of pictures that maybe I count get identified.
I have always thought of my father as a special kind of person in the humble way in witch he lead his life. He never required and recognition or any glory for anything he did. I think that his experience during his time with the 517 might have caused this. He always did the best he could, no matter how hard the curmstances, and never complained. He never would say much about his experiences in WWII, most of what I know today, I have found out since his death. I have sent for, and received, his medical records, and medals in the last few years. I have also found that just surviving the ordeal that you guys have been through makes all of you heroes, and for that each of us should be grateful .
Thank You Again For All You Do.
Bill Cornett

Andrew said he didn't know the person mentioned in this e-mail. Maybe some of the other troopers in H company might remember him.
When you have time, tell us all about the reunion. I'm sorry we couldn't make it but had too much going on besides trying to get over colds that hung on forever. Thankfully, we are all felling much better. I think maybe I should consider having my house fumigated to get rid of the germs that got us all down. LOL.
