Hello,

Bob and I conferred with Clark Archer a few days ago and Clark is gathering valuable information that he will send to us for the website.

I have had an inquiry about John Lissner. Can anyone give us information about John?

Hi Ben,
I know that you do not hear from me often, but I have been getting the mail calls and enjoy reading all of them. I wish I would be able to come to the re-union, but my health problems just won,t let me travel to far away from home.
Maybe when one of the re-unions gets close enough to home I'll be able to make one. I do want so badly to meet all you guys, maybe God willing I get it done.
One comment I would like to make about the Iraq situation is that I wish that there was some way to get the message over the Iraqi people that we did not liberate Iraqi for the oil. It seems that all the news media carry that message over and over again, and the Iraqi people believe that we invaded their land to take away their oil, can't someone get the truth to those people?.
You are doing a wonderful job with Mail-Call, I just hope it continues.

Ben this is a wonderful program available through Veterans Advantage, a membership club for vets, with the 50% off fares through the end of 2003. You can try a few fares for yourself. I made a trip from Seattle to Washington DC for $108 one way last year. I have not priced it this year but it will be close. This is for Coach Fare.

The cars have lower seating area for folks with wheel chairs or other special needs, including showers.

I tried the roomette and also coach. With the bedroom your meals are included in the ticket price. I found the coach seats and leg supports to be comfortable while the small bedroom was a little restricking.

I will be glad to assist anyone needing help understanding the program or how to get the fares.

My "Cousin -in-Law" Richard Baysinger, B Co, 1st Bn. asked me to inquire about a James C. Dunaway, also from B Co, 1st Bn. and listed in the Dec 44 Book. Any information would be appreciated.

Another excerpt from Tom Cross's 1980s STATICLINE columns.

After reaching Italy it was almost as common to ask a buddy for a jeep motor rotor as it was to ask for a cigarette. We were well motorized in Italy, vfor we were quick learners, and by the time we reached S. France were experts in the line of:"Robin-Hood-Jeep Acquisitions" with a motto stating that we only took for the needy-us. It is a good thing we were a separate oufit and moved around a lot so that we were not a sitting duck for the many IG Inspectors that came to know us well

The old American absent mindedly arrived at French customs at Paris airport and fumbled for his passport.  "You have been to France before Monsieur?", the customs officer asked sarcastically.
The ancient Yank admitted that he had been to France before.
"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready for inspection", snapped the irate official.
The American said that the last time he came to France he did not have to show his passport.
"Impossible, old man.  You Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France."
The old American gave the Frenchman a long hard look.  "I assure you, young man, that when I came ashore on Omaha Beach in Normandy on D Day in 1944, there was no damn Frenchman on the beach asking to see my passport!"
