Hello,

The reunion time is getting close. Why should you make arrangements to come if you haven't already done so? Mail from Claire in this Mail Call answers that question better than I can.

Hi Ben:

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy receiving mail call.  I think what you and Bob are doing is great and personally I have copied the mail calls and have kept them in a binder to have for my family.  I think a lot of people would be interested in getting on the website and a lesson would help but some people just won’t do it.  I am thinking of someone like my Mom.  I told her that she needs to get a computer and how much she could do on it (when she worked she did work with computers so they are not foreign to her).  I couldn’t get her to buy a computer for nothing and if I bought one for her I think it would just sit there.  I have found so many people that are just AFRAID to use the computer and afraid they will mess something up.  It would be nice to come up with even an idea to inspire people to enjoy the computer and maybe with Bob showing them how easy it is to get on the 517th website it might help.

Ben -

I just got this mailcall and want to respond to Vickie Jacobsen, who wrote
that she'd offered to drive her dad to the reunion, but he figured that he
wouldn't know anybody.  I hope that she is either on mail call or that you
could forward this to her.  This is an open comment to all, though.

DO IT!  GO!  Like Ben has said in previous mailcalls, if you can crawl, you
should be there!

My dad (Allan Johnson 596) just found this group in 1999 after being out of
touch for 55 years.  He says it over and over again:  these guys are family,
and it's been like coming home.  He's gone to the national reunions since 99,
and I've gone with him to the last two Florida reunions.  Heck, I even brought
the kids this year.  Dad always sees at least someone he knows, but he gets to
meet the men he doesn't know - guys who weren't too far away, but were in a
totally different war that day.  Everyone's experience was different, and they
get together and share.  And then - at the next reunion - there are more
new "old" friends, more familiar faces.

And I have to tell you, what a great bunch of people this group is.  I enjoy
meeting all the people, who welcomed me in like a member of the family.

Dad is driving to OK and will be leaving pretty soon.  Hope you all have a
wonderful reunion.  I know that Lou and Jesse have worked so hard for so long,
and I'd love to go, but this is a hard time of year for me (hence the January
reunions - better timing for us).  And Ben - you do this great job every day -
thank you as always.  My love to Miss Fran -

Claire
