Hello,
I just got back from the reunion and had a problem getting on the internet with my computer. Accidently solved the problem.

This Mail Call may have errors and omissions since I spent some time deleting the spam.

Lou and Jesse Darden along with daughter Kristy made it possible for the reunion to be most successful. Jesse was so numb from all the work that he offered to host another one but he came around in time to withdraw his offer.

I will have more to say about the reunion in later Mail Calls  but just want to let all know that the next reunion will be at Savannah in 2005.

I have to mention that ths savior of the association, Merle McMorrow, again performed beyond the line of duty while filling in for the president Allan Goodman who was unable to attend.

The download was sent in by Bob Christie.

This one is impossible to believe.  Scroll down for the text.   If there is one thing you forward today.....let it be this.

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of PanAm Flight 103!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the military barracks in Saudi Arabia!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001!

REMEMBER all the AMERICAN lives that were lost in those vicious MUSLIM attacks!

Now the United States Postal Service REMEMBERS and HONORS the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a commemorative first class holiday postage stamp.

REMEMBER to adamantly and vocally BOYCOTT this stamp when purchasing your stamps at the post office. To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those AMERICANS who died at the hands of those whom this stamp honors.

REMEMBER to pass this along to every patriotic AMERICAN you know
.

Subj: Another Paratrooper found
Date: 6/9/2003 4:59:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: thetraveler@pnx.com

Hi Ben - Arrived in Orange, Texas last Sat. afternoon --- after a wonderful week in Oklahoma City with the folks of the 517th Paratroopers.    That night, my husband and I went to the VFW Hall in Vinton, La. where they have a great little Western band, all the members are over 60.    One of the ladies asked where I had been on my little vacation, and I told her - when I said "517th Paratroopers", her mouth dropped open.   She then informed me that her deceased husband, was in the Battle of the Bulge.   Said he fought in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, England and Germany.  He served from March 1943 to Jan. 1946.   Just a few minutes ago, she sent me an email.  She asked me to find out if anyone remembered William "Bill" Dorgher - he was 6'3, born in Knoxville, Tn, and raised in W. Va.  His widow Jeanne, said she has a two page tattered item titled Battlefront News which seems to describe the big jump behind enemy lines that Bill made.  It also has autographs and cities of the guys who were in this operation.    What her husband did, was build bridges, repair roads, laid booby traps and mines.   He separated in Ft. Knox, Ky. as CPL.   She also said he began with the 139th Airborne Eng. and 326th Airborne Eng. as unit foreman.  She asks for my physical address and will send me other information.    This gives me the shivers.  Hope someone can remember "BIll" - and also hope he is on the list of names of those who served.

I went to my Chiropractor this morning, and was telling him about my wonderful week in Oklahoma City - he said he had read Band of Brothers - in fact, had the book in his office.   He loaned it to me and I will read it again.

Hope  you and your wife made it home safely.

Shirley McCarey
Friend of the 517th
