Dear Ben: You and your son Bob have done it again. This means of communicating while the spirit of the Oklahoma City Reunion is still running high is a great asset to all of us. It is the spring board of things to come. Mail Call and the Thunderbolt should be the glue that binds the Band of Brothers together. The Thunderbolt is vital since many of our troopers do not have and will not touch a computer. So, Bob’s comments about the future of the Thunderbolt and the Mailing List are timely subjects. We can all help in making Thunderbolt and the Association more important in the lives of our troopers and in doing a better job of communicating to those who do not get Mail Call. These are not competing, but complimentary means of communicating. I trust that we can use Mail Call as a news source for the Thunderbolt so the vital information contained in Mail Call may be shared by those who don’t get it. If there is a way to get things to Bob so that he does not have retyping to get it Thunderbolt "printable", that will be a big accomplishment. It will also make Bob’s job doable. Thanks to Leo Dean for his contribution to this Mail Call. I would be remiss if I did not relate that after our business meeting, Dick Seitz handed me a complete list of the 2nd Bn. contacts for Thunderbolt reporting. With a little effort, we should be able to bring the other units up to the 2nd Bn. level. We want a man for every company and battery. Leo Dean has Dick’s list and I am sure he will pass it on to Bob or stick it in Mail Call for all of us. We want the Thunderbolt not only to tell the stories of our illustrious past, but what we are doing now and thinking about for the future. The obituaries are important, but it is sad that we catch up on what a guy has done after he is dead and we no longer can see him at a reunion or give him a buzz on the phone. Our objective is to make the Thunderbolt something it has always been–something to look forward to getting every quarter. We also have to make Bob’s job easier to accomplish. Onward and Upward, Howard Hensleigh

We sincerely appreciate all the people who do so much for the 517th. We are glad to get the list of new officers, and will get in dues right away. We are celebrating Father's Day this weekend as we will have all of our "young-uns" together for the first time in several years. We met Tom Reber at Mini Reunion in 2002, and are so happy he continues to participate. Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there.
Dallas and Jerrie Long

One package of Lipton Noodles1 clove of garlic [medium] chop fine onion [medium size] sliced green pepper [1/2 medium] sliced4 mushroom [medium size] sliced¾ lbs. of fresh shrimp. Prepare the vegetables. When you put the noodles in the boiling water, start sautéing in butter the vegetables, when 2/3 sautéed add shrimp after sautéing add to noodles. I like to eat it with garlic bread [French or Cuban] and toss salad. Add your own touches to this receipt and you will have a gourmet dinner.

Hi Ben and all Troopers and their
families. The Reunion was a great experience. It would be difficult to find words to express thanks to Lou, Jesse, Kristy and the others who helped them at the reunion so, I will just say a sincere thanks for the great job. The opportunity to get to know many Troopers and their families was a highlight among many others. I'm still too tired to write many words which should be included here. Won't try any more at this time. Edie and I remained in OK City until Wed., visiting long time friends, We arrived home yesterday afternoon. As we turned into the driveway the clock in the car read 517 PM.

Ben, I am updating my Mailing list to match the roster. I am finding
incomplete addresses. Does anyone know E.W. Burkhardt of Chicago? He was
in Co.A.
Incidentally, there are quite a few on the roster with email
addresses only. I can't use snail mail for them. If they want to receive
the roster or Thunderbolt they will have to send me their Mailing
Address. Bob

Jesse I just want to thank you, Lou and your daughter for a great Reunion. I know your family worked long hard hours putting it together I'm sure you are appreciated by all.
Oklahoma City is a great City for reunions. Best of all it was only three hours drive from home. By the way, the weather wasn't really too bad, a little rain at night, but nice doing the day.
Thanks again Cecil H. Doty
