I am sending thi Mail Call out early so that all will know about the condition of Joe Mackiewicz "I" Co. Joe was one of our youngest members.He was wounded in Southern France and sent to the hospital where the Red Cross found out that he was under age. He was discharged from the Army but reenlisted again as soon as he became of age.

     My name is Steve Mackiewicz (Jerry's son) I just want to inform you that on Friday the 13th my father suffered a major stroke, he is in Memorial Hospital in Gulf Port mississippi, at this time he is in fair condition they have him in I.C.U.we would like to give you a few phone numbers to get in touch with myself or his wife Pat, this way we can keep you updated on his condition. my father has spoken very highly of you and has instructed me and Pat that if anything was to happen to him that i should inform you of his condition. At this time he has very little movement to the left side of his body and his speech has been affected by. Hello there I am sending you this email to let you know that I found out what I was looking for. He was in 517th but trained at Camp Toccoa. (Mount Currahee) So when they told me he was a Currahee that meant he trained there. Thank you very much for your email.... I am glad I get the mail call. I think its cool. Once again thank you..
