Hello,Had some trouble with "Mail Call" NO.51. I had
intend to preface the
Hanoi Jane story with the following.
Ben
_______________________________________________________________
I asked Bob about putting the Hanoi Jane story on the website. His reply
Ben
I've seen this circulating on the Internet many
times. I'm afraid the facts
are not quite accurate or complete, so I
wouldn't put it on our site.
Although I'm not a big fan of Fonda or her
actions, there are way too many
false statements and exaggerations in this
story. Here is a little more
information about this "urban legend":

Another great mail call. Thanks
to Bob for explaining the website so we
understand it a little better.
(He is one very smart man to know so much
about computers.)

work on mail

I found the site. My Dad Master SGT
Irving E. Gadoury was in the 517th Co. G.
He was wounded September 19 in
Souspal France. It took 26 years for the
shrapnel to kill him. I would love
to learn everything about his unit. I am
only about 50 miles from Saugus.
Would love to get together and talk. I
havent been able to find out very
much about Dads war expierience. I am very
thirsty for any knowledge of the
517th.

Frice friends, associates and family-did I miss
anyone ?
Regards and a quick update note to all.
Margaret and I are currently camped at Aspen Ridge, 1010
NE Purcell,
#109, Bend, OR, 97701 Tel: 541 388 5407.
A nice place-have no idea of
length of stay. Only 30 min to the hill (Mt
Bachelor) - where I blew out a
calf muscle skiing sunday. Oh
well. Marg is doing much better mentally and
physically. Able to get
around very well with a walker. So, she is with
walker and I, as of
yesterday, am following her on crutches. We make a pair.
We have
daughters Karen and Laurie and their families living nearby. That is
a great
help. So, we shall see. I still must commute to CA to our San Luis
Obispo home (5008 Caballeros Ave, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401-7977; and my
work
every few weeks. Hope to be able to make Palm Springs and
certainly Bismark.

for information about my late uncle, LT Julius E. Weiss,
from New Orleans,
LA (he died in 1995). Was with Company A of the 517th;
wounded at Stavelot,
Belgium on 3 Jan 1945. He always told me he jumped at
Normandy, but I know
the 517th didn't jump there. Did some troopers jump on
D-Day and later get
assigned to the 517th? Does anyone remember him?

Anthony Ventura. I am doing research on Sgt. Robert J.
Miller, Company I,
3rd Battalion, 517th PIR, ASN 39566866. Sgt Miller was
killed in action on
September 7, 1944 in Southern France. I am looking for
anyone who knew Sgt.
Miller,or has pictures of him, or maybe a picture of Co.
I. His friend
during the war were Lt. Floyd Stott, Cpl. F. L. Allen, PFC
G.E. Carr, Sgt.
J.E. Cornett. If anyone out there has any information, please
E-mail me.
Sgt. Miller was a true hero, his story needs to be completed, and
written
down for everyone to read. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Los
Angeles.
Thanks!!!!

Ben,
Thank your very
much. I did not know about Lt. Stott. I have all of the
telegrams, letters from war buddies and the letters from Sgt. Miller
himself. Any information would be most welcome.
Again,
Thanks for your timely response.
PS,
Included is something
from Lt. Stott that you might find interesting. I have
lots of 517th
material that you might find interesting.

Hello Anthony,
I
maintain the website for the 517th and I also send out a news letter twice
a
week to members online. I will include your message in next news
letter(tonight). Next week the 517th is having an East Coast Reunion in
Florida.I will try to get some information for you about Robert Miller.
All I can tell you right now is that Lt. Floyd Stott was killed in Dec.
1944
on the attack on Manhay, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge

the www first. Thats why I couldnt find it.
In that web site you had a email posted
and you listed yourself living in
Saugus Mass. I may be
mistaken.
If
you run into anyone from G Co. please give them my address I would love to
learn more.
I will sign the guest book right away. Have a safe trip. You
and the rest of

Hi Bonapart,
Glad you found the site. What was the
problem? Let me know so that I can
eliminate it for others.
I will
include your mail in a newsletter that I send out to all members
online
about twice a week. Also you should sign our guestbook and tell us
about your dad. Other members will see it and there should be some who
knew
your dad.
I am leaving Monday for an East Coast Reunion for the
517th. I know that at
least a couple of members of "G" Co. will be there.
Ben
