Bob Piper is an honorary mermber and a great friend of the 517. He attends  many of our Florida reunions. I expect to see him again in January,04 at Kissimmee. Information about his book can be found on our website or at Amazon.com

Book Description
Colonel Bob Piper served as a platoon leader in "G" Company, 505th PIR. He was Rgtl. Adjutant (S-1) and then Rgtl. Intelligence Officer (S-2) and made all four of the combat jumps effected by the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. He was wounded only once, in Sicily. His story is retold here through many photographs, and some of his own memorabilia, including original uniforms, badges and emblems. This is the second book in this new series depicting the lives of the men of the airborne forces in World War ll.

The Way We Were "Col. Bob Piper"  by Michel De Trez
From a book review.
If veteran photos and first-hand accounts are what you are looking for, look no further! A detailed military portrait of Colonel Bob Piper, Headquaters Company, 505th PIR, 82nd Airborne Division in WWII. Read his words as he describes his experience from Italy through the Bulge, The Roer, and Germany. This book is an excellent read from front to back!

Dad,

I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I recently added a link from our website to Armortek, a British site which "specializes in the provision of 1/6th scale
vehicles, figures  and accessories for the Modeller and War Game Enthusiast."

They also have a "links" page, which includes some useful information on WWII history, reenactment and war games.  They will be adding a link our site to their page.

Bob

Hi Ben

To answer your question on who Janice is please find the following:

Janice is a good friend of mine and a whiz on computers.  I have no idea how you received her message about the Virus Hoax.  Needless to say she sent it to me trying to keep me out of trouble.  I also received your alert.  Both of you were too late as I got rid of the file.  It didn't seem to mess up my system.

Believe me I am not going to pay any attention to any other Virus alerts.  In the next day or so all Hq 2nd Bn folks that don't have E-mail should receive a snail mail asking them to submit things to Bob Christie or myself for the Thunderbolt.

Keep up the good work, you do a heck of a job.

Darrell Egner
