Hi Ben.......Just read about Howard and Jans anniversary on August 15th.  Jim and I were also married on the 15th in 1956, and celebrated an anniversary in New Orleans when Jim was President of the  association.  My most sincere congratulations to the Hensleighs!!!!            Dorothy

Tom the trouble with your legs is that you dont exercise enough.  You state that when you walk the pain is not so great.  Get yourself an indoor exercise bike it will help with the circulation.  I have a bike in the den which I use daily for 30 minutes seven days a week.  Try it. Good luck.

At about 3:30 AM August 15, 1944 I stood up in front of the plane door red light on surrounded by complete darkness and looking down below before the green light went on, nothing but fog. Looked to me like water down below I said my act of contrition and forgiveness. Moment later the green went on and I hurled into the darkness.....The rest is history.

Was browsing in  the Library this afternoon and came upon the book, "Montgomery The Field Marshal" covering the Campaign in Northwest Europe 1944-45. Flipping the pages, I came upon the following which many members of the 517th 3rd Bn will remember: "The Battle of the Ardennes was won, and a heavy defeat inflicted on the enemy, by the fine generalship supported by able commaders in the field, by heroic defensive actions, notable at St. Vith and Bastogne, and by the swift and skilful creation and deployment of reserves.  All these deeds have been 'sung' and will live in military annals, but the disruption of the enemy plan and the imposittion of delays from which it was impossible to recover was brought about by anonymous men, anonnymous groups, often of stragglers of no fixed intention, whose deeds will never be known."
