The note from Dick Seitz was very appropriate and welcomed. We all need to contribute something. As I read the last Thunderbolt and viewed the pictures I realized that pictures can add a lot. As Dick suggested, send pictures as well as narrative, How about pictures of our buddies who did not make it back with a brief of their activities and other known facts about them. I have just reread most of the last Thunderbolt and found the pictures to be interesting even though most were current, nothing wrong with that. All else was also of interest.

Mail Call 526 has grabbed my attention. Another comment which concerns me is the touching article, sent in by Boom Boom, concerning heroic defense of Bastone and St. Vith. I did not think that we were there for the defense. However, I know the 2nd BN was there to help liberate St. Vith although we did not enter the town. The Battalion, including E. CO. went into the outskirts before veering off and were taken to Stavolet for a short rest before being trucked to near Bergstein, Germany. (Please, someone tell me if I am wrong about the defensive part.)

Dear Ben, Responding to the comments re Col Graves message to the
troops, I did receive the message but it was too small to read . Could
you blow it up a little ? I would like to download if readable . New
subject : It seems to me that the bulk of our troopers are not hooked
up, so much of what you are putting out in mail call could be helpful to
Bob when filling out the T-BOLT ? Keep up your and your son's GREAT
DEDICATION TO THE 517TH PRCT . I am grateful, indeed ! A/BBL Bob

Hello,

Sorry about the delay in emails. I have since been sent abroad overseas. I'm
still currently serving overseas. Was just wondering if you might be able to
still help me find some info on my Grandfather.

When my grandfather passed away, his new wife/step-grandmother shut out our
family. Anything he had delaing with the military and his history may have
been lost forever.

Just trying to put something together for me and my son. I also will try to
get replacement medals since she kept all of that as well.

I'm in the Air Force and very much appreciate and respect the military
history.
No rush on helping, just glad if you can get anything....photos, contacts
who knew Larry Huffner.

Thanks very much,
TSgt Greg Rodgers

I have no idea where I was prior to Mar. 20, 2001. Lucky to remember where I was a month ago. I have a faint recollection of this request. Larry Huffner served with the 460 and is on our 1944 Christmas roster. Can anyone help Greg with information about his grandfather-Ben

Comments: My grandfather, Larry Huffner, served in the 517th. I don't know what company, but am trying to find out as much as possible. My grandfather passed away in 1999. Unfortunately I didn't get to talk much about his unit's history. If anyone can help me with info, photos, etc it would be greatly appreciated. Just want to make sure his service, dedication, and commitment are never forgotten in our family...I also want my son to know more about his great-grandfather! Thanks and god bless TSgt Greg Rodgers

Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages... don't you think?
Verse from none other than.... the Koran.........Thought you might appreciate this ...

A verse from Muslim teachings.
Koran ( 9:11) --

For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

Note the number of the section.
