Hello Ben,
I wanted to
forward this email from an old friend of mine from Vietnam and the 101st
Airborne Division in which we served together in 1968 and 1969. Berk and I
keep in touch and he shared a picture with me along with the story behind
it. Maybe you and other WWII Vets have seen it before. I printed a
copy and sent it to my Father, who by the way absolutely loves reading the mail
calls that I send to him, and wanted to share it with all of you. You are
all heroes to me.
Best regards to you,
Dave Knee Jr.

Hi Dave! you
too Linda.
I have attached a jpeg file of a litho I came across many
years ago in the home of a Pilipino WWII vet that took three 45 slugs across
the gut in the Philippines from the Japs. He was left for dead, but found
in time to save his life. Because I was also a combat infantry vet, he
allowed me to take the picture off the wall, out of the the glass frame, and
photograph it on his front porch. It was very faded and brittle. I
had never seen the print before or since anywhere. But am sure it was
popular in WWII. I enhanced the color and touched up the cracks and tears
in Photoshop so it looks pretty nice now....will print out nice as a
5X7. Your the first one I am sending this to after so many
years. Hope you like
it.
Berk
