Ben,
Pat, our son Patrick, and I attended the AUSA awards ceremony yesterday at the Washington, D.C.Convention Center at which Dick Seitz received the General Creighton W. Abrams award for creating outstanding public support for the Army and it's soldiers. Dick was selected from among nominations of 132 AUSA chapters.
The presentation also recalled his active duty prestigious commands and his decorated combat service.
We share the pride of all the 517th and are so grateful to have been among the guests.

In a message dated 10/6/03 4:06:07 PM Pacific Daylight Time, Clark Archer writes:

I arrived at the Chateau Ste. Roseline, the Regimental CP, at 11:00 am on D-Day, with Private Kellogg.  We located PFC. Sutton and Stephan Wierzba and were instructed to set up a road block.

Hi Ben,
I was wondering if the Sutton mentioned by Clark Archer was Forrest Sutton. I remember Forrest Sutton coming to visit us many times as I was growing up in Indiana. Sutton stayed in the military after WWII and was with the 101st Airborne during and after Korea. He joined Special Forces during Viet Nam. I have his green beret from the 5th SFG which he gave to me in 1968 after his last tour of Viet Nam. We lost touch with him in the early 70s.

Incidentally, I have found a lot of my father's pictures and items from the 517th. Would you like me to send them to you for your perusal?

All the best,
Tom Dorman
Hi Ben...    Seems like Howard  has prepared a very good defense for me, which of course is very comforting to me; otherwise I would have had to defend myself, and you know what your law professor teaches,"he who defends himself has a fool for a client". Anyway, thanks to you HH. You have given me the incentive to pass on a few more of my felonious acts....later.(TomC's confession also helps) Randolph Coleman  Boy, that Statute of LImitations is great, isn't it!!

From Airborne & Special Operations Museum

On Saturday, Oct. 18, we'll have two authors visiting.

Journalist Karl Zinsmeister, author of "Boots on the Ground: A Month with the 82nd Airborne in the Battle for Iraq" will speak at 11:00 about our military's prowess and the embedded journalist operation. He'll sign books following his presentation.

Beginning at 1:00, 82nd Abn Div WWII paratrooper James Megellas, author of "All the Way to Berlin," will autograph books.

How I found the 517th page: From a search engine
Comments: My dad, Kyle Scott was in Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion of the 517th. I did not find this out until 20 years after his death. Dad never talked about the war or his time in the service. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that knew dad and/or had a more detailed knowledge of his units activities. Thank you for your time and effort.
