Hello,

We are still finding members after nearly sixty years as well as many new friends. We now have about 260 members and friends on our email roster.

Dear Ben,

I have caught and updated all roster, mailing, e-mail updates and requests expressed in either Mail Call or in personal e-mails to my address (I respond to every personal e-mail to assure people I have received them).

Bob Christie can relax and focus on the Thunderbolt, I will keep up the Thunderbolt mailing list as well.  One stop shopping.  All of you troopers out there can certainly help out Bob Christie with news, anecdotes, stories, memories, tributes, etc.  I am certain he would welcome the contributions.

I found the news about the Toccoa projects to be of great interest.  I need to make the trip that way.

Keep those roster updates coming!  If you have knowledge of someone's changes who does not have e-mail, please relay the information to me on their behalf.

Many thanks and best regards,

Tom Reber

Dear Howard....I got your name and address  from Bob Rice who was attending an 82d Airborne All Airborne Days convention in Ocala FL.

I was one of the first volunteers in the 460th Prcht FA Bn in 1943, was with them all the way until WWII was over.  Got out for a while, came back in in time for the Korean caper and stayed until Dec 69.

I have tried to contact several people whose names I have seen in the Legion magazine and The Static  Line.....one was to Jesse Darden of the 460th, and the other to Fred Brown, which was returned.

I would appreciate it if you could send an enrollment packet to me....I'd like to get hooked up again with buddies from my old outfit and attend the next reunion.  I was able to buy the 517th book in Novato, CA, but no addresses were listed.

Thanks a million....

Dear Phil,  Welcome aboard.  We consider you already hooked up. You did tha tlong ago.   We have a Mail Call (almost daily) and website manned by Ben and Bob Barrett.  Jesse and Fred are hooked up.  I just forwarded your message to ben517@aol.com; that is the mail call address.  Jesse and Lou Darden sponsored our last reunion in Oklahoma City.  Everyone will welcome a new 460th member.  We still publish the Thunderbolt.  One will be out soon.  Get your address to Bob Christie through Mail Call or otherwise and he will have you on his list.  Tom Reber is keeping the roster up to date so he can get it there too.  You can log onto the website at www.517prct.org and our roster at www.517prct.org/roster.pdf.  I was in the "queen of battle" portion of the Combat Team, but we always appreciated those 75 howitzers and the "mules" that pulled them.  My best,  Howard Hensleigh

Gentlemen...

Thanks for your help. We have found a copy in the Library of Congress that they are going to loan to Karl.

I appreciate your efforts!

Leroy Curtis
Can not remember if I sent these pictures of my father, Bud Curtis, 1st Bn and Russ Brambi, 3rd BN at the Toccoa monument during the Toccoa reunion in September.  This is a very special place, and a great tribute to the 517th.  Thought maybe someone would like to see these pictures of them, the old mess hall and Currahee mountain.

Also has anyone contacted Captain Terry of ā€œCā€ Company, 507th, (Jump School) at Fort Benning, GA?  He is the Company Commander who is putting together a large display case and wants to display 517th memorabilia.  It will be a lasting tribute to all of the men of the 517th.

We have other photos of Toccoa that Leroy sent as well as those from Chris Lindner in the Photos section on our website.-Ben
