 Hi Ben: I cannot believe that Joe Stim died while snorkeling.  My sympathy goes out to his family.  Joe was one of the first people that had written to tell me that he knew my father when I first started my research over two years ago.  I have kept in touch with him and he sent me his stories and also some pictures of my Dad that I had never seen before.  I do know that Joe had just gone into semi-retirement from his Law Firm.  He was so nice to me whenever he wrote or whenever I talked to him and he was so helpful with information regarding my Dad.   Again, My thoughts and prayers are with Joe’s family.  Chris Lindner - Nate Rubenstein’s Daughter

  Hi Ben......In rearranging my book shelves yesterday I found a wonderful book about the 82nd Airborne that Jim had.  The book has a Copyright 1946 from Chicago.  The title page reads...TO THE VALIANT MEN OF THE EIGHTY-SECOND AIRBORNE DIVISION WHOSE DESTINY LAID THEM TO REST IN THE FIELDS OF SICILY..ITALY..FRANCE..HOLLAND..BELGIUM..& GERMANY.  It's a fabulous book, and should go to the archives of the 82nd.    If you can get this information to the right persons please have them contact me and I'll arrange for them to get it.  Thanks Ben for all you do.         Dorothy

Hi Ben --- Talked with Mary Ann Turner, John's daughter in Chesapeake, VA
last nite.  John has been in the hospital with heart failure and renal
failure.  He's out now and in a nursing home to recoup.  Mary Ann said
his spirits were great, but doesn't sound good.

Have so enjoyed your MAIL CALL, sorry I haven't written sooner, computer
trouble again or should I say, continuing.  Please keep up the good work,
we depend on you and Bob!

BEN...THANKS FOR MONFORT'S EMAIL ADDRESS.  ON MAKING IT TO THE REUNION,  LIKE MOST ALL MY PLANS IT HAS TO BE ON A WAIT AND SEE BASIS. JUST GETTING OVER CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE.  WHEN I AM ABLE THEN COMES PROSTATE SURGERY. AFTER THAT IT WILL BE HAND SURGERY. YOU KNOW WE ALL HAVE OUR  INFIRMITIES THAT LIMIT US.  MOST ALL OF US ANYWAY.  I AM REALLY NOT COMPLAINING, JUST LETTING YOU KNOW WHY IT OFTEN IS DIFFICULT  TO  LOCK IN  DATES. I HONESTLY DON'T THINK I WILL BE THERE. BUT  YOU NEVER KNOW.  MY VERY BEST....MIKE SPANO
