Hello,

Bob Christie has sent us a list of those who have signed up for the reunion and if you have not registed yet, it would be a big help for Bob if you would register as soon as possible.

I have not dowloaded the photographs from Karen Manoukian. I already have enough problems on a strange computer. I'm sure Bob will download them and put them in the Photos section on the website.

Rich Stim to Bob Christie

Hi Bob

My mother asked me to forward this obituary for my father, Joseph D. Stim.

Rich Stim

STIM--Joseph D., 79, of Wantagh, NY, passed away on November 3, 2003, while snorkeling in Hawaii. An extraordinary man who relished peace and provoked thought, Joe served as a paratrooper in World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School, and practiced law for five decades, respected by his peers, and appreciated by his clients. He was a philosopher who sketched, a learned teacher, a hiker, a playwright, and a gentle man. Dear husband of Bobby for fifty-seven years, loving father of Barbi Jo (Sam Ciofalo), and Richard (Andrea Ross), adored grandfather of Sasha StimVogel. Services to be held at Gutterman's Funeral Home, 8000 Jericho Trnpk, Woodbury, NY on Sunday, November 9th at 10 A.M.

Morris McDowell

Hey Ben,
I have been researching my Cousin's military history, & have found the morning reports of Jan 5, & 6, 1945, & have reconstructed the report by using the Christmas list, since the original morning report print is so poor. There are numbers after the mens' names, 7745, 7761, etc. if these are m.o.s. numbers, do you know what they are? Morris McDowell, Cousin of  Layton Pippin.
                                                 ***********
Clark Archer informs me that MOS stands for Military Occupation Specialty. World War 2 soldiers only had three digets untill # 7 was added for Airborne troops.-Ben

Dear Ben and Bob:

Several people have asked me for pictures of myself.
Enclosed is a page of pictures.  The top two are
photographs taken in my youth.  The one on my right
wass taken in Rome.  Captain Joe McGeever and Lts. Tom
Priest, Joe Largen and I, all from Hdq. 3rd, had our
pictures taken in a small basement studio before
parachuting into Southern France.  I borrowed
McGeever's cap and switched the insiginas because I
liked the parachute emblem better than the later
insignia also showing the glider.  The other picture
may have been taken after we arrived back in the
States.  The picture showing the jeep also shows the
images of my S-2 guys including, the two French
parachutists who jumped into Southern France with us.
They liked us, patrolled with us and stayed with us
for over a month.  When they eventually returned to
their units, their company commander wanted to court
martial them for being AWOL.  We got them out of the
noose.  As the jeep was propelled over many roads and
terrain not previously traversed by
U.S. troops, we named it "minesweeper".  The two
pictures at the bottom were taken at the leGolf Hotel.
The one on the right shows Lt. Pinkston (G Company)
and Doc Plassman, Battalion Surgeon.  The one on the
left is a picture of me.  There were huge holes blown
in the sides of the hotel.  We are standing in them.
For Ben's benefit this proves there was a LeGolf
Hotel.

Please confirm if you have received above attachment.
I will not erase the image from my hard drive until I
hear from you.

Sent by Karen Manoukian for Howard E. Hensleigh.
