Ben et al, We have 51 attending the reunion so far, with 19 attending the Dinner Theater. Tomorrow, The Thunderbolt will be ready for the printer with whatever news and pictures we include. I will have the most important news entered and the rest I will include in the next issue. If I'm lucky, the Thunderbolt will be in the mail before the end of December, only a month late. The next issue will be out in March. Bob Entry of Dec 15, 2003 at 18:58 [EST]
Name: Vera Stano Unit: EMail: kstanno@comcast.net How I found the 517th page: From a search engine Comments: My father served in the 517th Airborne during WWII. He was at the Battle of the Bulge. Does not talk about it. I have a picture of him after he was released from the hospital after suffering severe frostbite. Can anyone tell me some personal stories? Does anyone know/remember my dad, Willard Kohler? He is now 79 years old. Thank you. ************
Willard Kohler was a member of Hdqs. Co. 2nd Bn.
This is a photo of the ruins of Maria Gaspar" house in Bergerval, Belgium January 6, 1945. Maria is the head of C.A.D,U.S.A who along with Irma and Arnold Targion has attended many of our reunions.
The photo is taken from Eddy Monfort's book L'OFFENSIVE DES ARDENNES

Thank you so much for responding to me. I am doing a scrapbook of our family for my parents as a Christmas gift. One of the pictures my mother gave me was of my father at age 20 (he was 20 November, 1944) taken in March, 1945. He was just released from the hospital (he looked terrible), suffering from severe frost bite while "participating" in the Battle of the Bulge. My father has always been very closed mouth about the war. The very little bit I do know, my mom (reluctantly) provides me. Hopefully, on Christmas when I present the scrapbook to my dad, I can find out what company he was with. I literally drag (and I am not always very successful) the info out of my parents. They are very private people and rarely talk about hard times. Heaven knows that wonderful generation has seen it all. God bless all of you and thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
I would be honored to be included in your mail call. Thank you again for your kindness.
