Dear Ben:
Please do not stop the downloads I have never heard of a down load stopping any one from receiving E. Mail. Your Christmas Card was very good and thoughtful.
If any one is afraid of downloads they should invest in a good Virus protection program and a Fire Wire sys, Check out Norton's Protection system it is worth every penny spent.
If I am wrong I am sure some one out there will correct me

   Respectfully

I Agree with Bob, but I don't like it when Mail Call is undeliverable for any reason. -Ben

How I found the 517th page: From a search engine
Comments: I recall my father, Peter Christensen talking about his good friend Boom Boom Alicki. I almost fell off the chair when I saw my dad in a couple of pictures submitted by Lt. Alicki. My father took his last jump in June of 2000. He always spoke highly and of fondness of his brethern in arms in the 517th.

Ben,

Unfortunately, he died in  June of 2000.  He was assigned as a demo with the Regimental HQ Co.  My brother has his photo book from the war.  Hopefully I can get ahold of it and e-mail some pictures.  He also recieved the Bronz Star while with the 517th,  (this was awarded to him about 15 years ago after a review of his records) but his name does not appear on the list of receipients.  I will get a copy of the citation and  forward it also.  Among the people he kept close contact were John Alicki, and Peter Sturgeon (those are the two names I can recall).
My interest in finding the website was started after watching "Band of Brothers".  My kids watched it too, and when I told them grandpa did the exact same thing those guys did, they couldn't believe it.  The old gray haired man that would buy them ice cream all of a sudden became larger than life itself.  It would have been nice
if he could have been around to see their reaction.

Thanks again for your reply, and the best of the new year to you.

Tom

Dear Family, Fellow Troopers, and many friends,
Lovely weather here in OR-the snow flakes softly fall. Have times and circumstances changed ?   60 years later and 5,000 miles or so distant from the trials of our youth. It's just the "standard of living, and the presence of family and friends" that has changed-not us.

Ben, Bob and Howard,

I wanted to let you know that I will not be attending the reunion in Florida
in January.  I had originally thought that my schedule was going to be free
at that time, however, I have plenty of work on my plate at my current
employer with some critical projects finishing up at the end of January that
need my attention.    I also may be moving to Ohio for a new job (new
employer) by late January so I need to be available to make a timely move.

I am sorry to miss this wonderful opportunity to get together with the men
of the 517th.  I am still working on the history project and expect to be
interviewing John Forrest of Decauter, Georgia before I move out of state.
I will be in touch.

Regards and Regrets,

Brian
