Hi Ben:
When I read Merle McMorrow’s comments in Mail Call today he was 100% correct regarding what you and Bob do and also on the history of WWII. My son, Rick (he attended the Oklahoma reunion with me) had the history of WWII in his junior year of High School last year. It was just one of the segments in his history class but he brought a few things that I had in a few of my many binders. His history teacher was so surprised he asked Rick where he obtained the information. Of course Rick told him about the 517th PRCT and all of the work I had been doing to research my Dad’s (Nathan Rubenstein) WWII days and that there was a complete web-site on the computer just for the 517th PRCT which was the unit that his Grandfather was in and that it obtained true facts from the WWII veterans themselves.
Needless to say the teacher asked Rick if he had anymore information regarding the 517th PRCT. As you well know I have enough information that I think I could teach the history segment on WWII, so Rick brought many pictures and articles and even more important the actual stories told by the 517th paratroopers that came from your web-site. Rick’s teacher was so impressed because Rick brought in things that the teacher never even heard of much less knew about.
I just wanted to add to Merle’s comments regarding the importance of your web-site and how it actually affected Rick in one of his classes.
Have a wonderful day.

Hi Ben, Re: the coins, I informed Richard Wheeler I was good for 50 if it gets enough support. Take care of yourself and pass on anything new about the availability of the coins. Best..Randolph Coleman F. Co.
Thanks, JJ

This letter has just been added to the website.
Tom Cross had it in his possession.
This is a copy of a letter sent to the mother of each soldier as they headed out to visit home on what was probably their last home furlough.

Comments: This
is a great site! This past weekend I had the chance to talk to a veteran of the
517th, Andrew P. Lubic. What a great experince that was for me. I am a teacher
and each spring we have a short-term which last a week. Each year I teach a
course based on Stephen Ambrose book "Band Of Brothers". I am hoping that I can
convince Mr. Lubic to come and speak to my students. They need to hear these
stories! Again, this is a great site...an important site. We need to be
constantly reminded of the sacrifices people have made for us.
