Ben--Many thanks to you and the Christies for the wonderful work that you do.  I am looking forward to the new addition of the Thunderbolt.  I was proud that the 596 was represented by Allan Johnson and his daughter Claire, Bill and Gloria Hudson, Don and Jan Saunders, and Ede and myself.  Thinking of the phrase "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away", it is nice to know that Claire, Tom Reber, Wayne Cross and other descendents will keep the spirit and memory of this organization going.  Airborne--Joe Miller

Ben.....Thought I would bring this to your attention that the eleven
men are all members of my Demolition Platoon on their way to
the Bulge.

Ben, I have at least 10 of the Mail Calls missing in the archives. I'll be glad to send direct to whomever you provide an address.

I really appreciate the archive since I have tried to save them all myself. I have more in some files I saved when I changed to AOL 9 but will have to figure out how to get them opened.

Hi Don,

I have posted all of the MailCalls that I kept.  As you noticed there are many missing, especially those before #400.

I will gladly take any of those that you have.  You can save me a step if you send them directly to my other email address at webmaster@517prct.org.

Thanks,

Bob Barrett

Dear Rick,  Thank you for your generous offer.  I am forwarding it to Helen and Hal Beddow, Ben, and Bob Christie.  You certainly may correspond directly with Helen and Hal.  As there may be interest in the European trip, the Thunderbolt and Mail Call could provide a sounding board on earlier requests for T-shirts etc.
Everyone enjoyed the FL reunion.  Attendance was good.
Please give your mother our best airborne regards.  Howqrd Hensleigh

Subject: Europe 2004/.Reunion 2005

Hi Mr. Hensleigh,

How are you? It sounds from the e-mails that everyone had a good time at the Reunion last week. I would like to offer my services with regard to screen printing. I have been in this business for five years and would like to print some t-shirts for the people going to the
Europe trip, if there is anyone going and then use the same set-up for the printing of
t-shirts or any other garment for the 2005 reunion. I would, with the help of  other descendants contribute these to the Paratroopers. It would be a small way for us to give back to the 517th paratroopers. I noticed at the Oklahoma reunion that there were insulated beverage bags, I would be honored to aid in a couple of other items for the next reunion.
I wanted to get your feed back before doing anything of the sort and with your permission
get in contact with the couple in Savannah to see what they need in this department.
I appreciate your time to read and consider this request. If you would like to talk by phone, I would honored to call you. My home phone number is 760-603-1936. I live in Carlsbad, CA.

Best Regards,

PS I'll be seeing my mom this weekend and I believe that she may be going to the reunion next year as well. I'll ask her.

Ben:  I have been calling the taking of Manhay on 27 Dec 44 the first territory retaken from the Germans after the Bulge.  You Second Bn. men might dispute that, or did you realy take St. Vith a year later?  I didn't die, just took some time to catch up on some legal work .  Howard Hensleigh
