Subject: MAIL CALL N0. 653 517TH PRCT--MARCH 2, 2004
Hello,

If you miss any "Mail Calls" or have problems reading scan material or getting attachments, you can click on  www.517prct.org/archives .  Bob has enhanced the print and it is much easier to read "Mail Call ".  It  is put in the archives soon after it is sent out.

I recently heard from Merle McMorrow.  Aime Lecard and Antionette from Draguignan are  going to visit him this summer. Merle and Mardy are going on a European tour soon that will take them to Berlin. Merle's book of 350 pages will soon be published.

I had a long phone conversation with Howard Hensleigh today. If there is anything about World War 2 especially about the 517 and especially about the third battalion, Howard can recall it.

There has not been much mail during the past few days and since I have already lost  one printout, I had best send this "Mail Call"  out now.

Yo Ben, I'm having difficulty getting thru to the Roster page, I get Action Canceled message and then a File Download picture starts flashing on and off pretty much shutting down every thing. I have no problem bringing up the other three links.( Website, Mailcall, and Mailcall Archives) What am I doing wrong? Hopefully it's nothing too technical, being somewhat disadvantaged in computer skills. Thank You, Jim

One reason might be that he doesn't have Adobe Reader loaded on his computer.  This is a free program that is needed to view "pdf" files.

At the bottom of the "Documents" page, there is a link to the adobe site where anyone can load and install the program.

That would be the first thing that I would check.

I also added the info about loading Adobe Reader onto the TOP of the Documents page, were people would be more likely to see it.

Hi Ben, The suggestion from your son worked like a charm and I thank both of you very much. Sure good to have the kids around when you need them. Sorry to bother you but I was up a creek. Don't know where you find the time to keep this extensive website humming but hang in there.

Hi Ben:

I was reading the article from l944 from John Alicki’s material and I did not know what hill or area they were talking about.  Could you please let me know?

Thanks a lot.

I ran across this web story about Greg Oehm, who joined the 517th in January 1945.

"He knew he was in trouble when his chute didn't open"

from the Florida Sun-Herald March 04, 2004

The story is now on the website under "Soldiers Stories".
