Dear Ben -

I celebrated my 80th birthday this week by going skydiving with my daughter, Maya.  It was a thrill.  I'm already planning to do it again.

See the pictures attached.

For Jon Bosse.  To you and your family our heartfelt sympathy over the
passing of your father.  We have loss a great American and courageous
paratrooper who served his country well in the ranks of a great unit,
the 517th Parachute Combat Team.   Our thoughts and prayers are with you
during your period of deep sorrow. Dick Seitz.

This is a must see!  Make sure your sound is turned up and be prepared for some graphic images.  I  commend whoever created this site; it really gets the point across.

Attached is an article published in the Worthinton Ohio local newspaper dated June 6, 1946 about my cousin's (Dick Lynam) award of the Silver Star. Thought you would want this for your records & history. He was killed in Belgium 5 Jan 1945.  I have some other items including letters & a picture taken in Nice that I will send to you.  The picture quality is not great as the newspaper is old & turning yellow & coming apart. Thanks for the work you are doing to preserve the history of this great unit

Lory Curtis
Ben,  As you know my Dad gave me his letters he wrote home to his mother during the war.  In reading a letter dated, Saturday, September 30, 1944, Col de Braus, France, my Dad wrote:      “It will be pay day again in a couple of days and we get $30.00 back pay on that combat badge we won fighting in Italy.  It pays $10.00 every month.”    In speaking with my Dad he remembers being paid $10.00 per month for having the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge).  In my service in the Army I do not remember an infantryman being paid extra money for having a CIB.  Could the $10.00 per month be “combat pay” that everyone got for being in a combat zone?  Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Can anyone remember getting the extra $10:00? -Ben
