Joe Miller is in the hospital after surgery
for colon cancer, operated on March 29th. He has not made a rapid recovery
so prayers and good wishes are gratefully received. He has to be fed
parenterally via a venous line and is quite weak. His mind is
exceptionally good and will appreciate your kind thoughts--best wishes to
all--Edith
Miller

Dear Ben, I have permission from Ede to send you some of the details
on
Joe that I received on the 14th. I will do that right after I send
this.
Ede thanks all of us for support and Said the mailcall will save
her
from having to send the info on her own. I talked with Ede last eve
about
7 PDT( same as our MST< since we do not go on DST) , she said
Joe was
very week though very lucid . They get him up for some therapy
several
times a day . He has trouble eating and other troubles you will note
from
the next email I am sending . Bob

Joe
did well, I thought--as did the doctors--for two days-then had to go on the NG
tube (nasalgastric) then seemed to have some bowel activity and went off--then
contracted shingles--three days later was vomiting and had to go back on the NG
tube, which he is still on. They have had to insert a venous line above
the clavicle so he can have some nutrients. He is still on IV's, oxygen,
nasal tube and getting discouraged. Many doctors about--all trying
mightily to get some bowel activity but he seems to have ileus--a paralytic
bowel. X-rays galore and all of that--surely hope the next news is
better--Love to you
both--Ede

Gene Brissey
Gene Brissey,
Mail Call
continues to keep us informed, even though some of the news is not pleasant. The
illness of Jessie Darden and Joe D. Miller is an example of unpleasant news.
Edie and I wish the very best for each "Trooper" and their families.

George Arredondo
Jr.
Dear Ben Barrett,
My name is George Arredondo Jr.. I am a
student at The University of
Texas San Antonio. I am
researching my grandfathers experience in WWII for
my
course study. My grandfathers name is Moses E
Arredondo. He
was private in the Company E 517th
Parachute Infantry. I've interviewed
him discussing
his experience of his unit's deployment over Le
Muy,
France. I am also interested in others who may have
been part of that
particular mission. Please let me
know if there is anyone I can talk to about
their
experience at Le Muy.
(my grandfather said he was captured by the
Germans
and taken into Le Muy and was held captive for 6-7
days). Can you
help me? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
George
Arredondo Jr.
