Hello to all.

I've read with concern about the serious illnesses of some of our Band of Brothers.  Now, unfortunately, I have to add my dad, Ed Winship to the list.  He had a stroke this morning at his residence in Orange Park, Florida.  Don't have much more information at this time, but will keep you posted.  He and my family would very much appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

My best to all of you.

Rich Winship

Ben:

This is the fellow that gave out perfume to all the women when we stopped at the Sofetel Hotel in Paris when we were there in 1999.  He was decorated by the French Govt. for his underground work during the war.  I don't completely understand what he intends to do but it sounds like he wants to erect a monument.

Here is his message to me:  (Merle Mc Morrow)

Dear Merle and Mardy,

I am writing you to give you some news about my health and my family.

Everybody is fine, but my health is no good, I am almost blind and my view
is always worth. I had also an attack in my brain, what make that I am
almost paralyzed and I cannot walk by myself. Therefore I am trying to keep
myself busy so that I do not think of my problems.

Now, my request to make a souvenir place in south of France has been
accepted by the French government and they will finance (each member may
only pay ten dollar to be member) and I hope to receive special conditions
for visit to France with Air France.

But they put as condition that we can prove that our new association will
have, at least, 200 members. For those who don't have the ten dollars,
we will send them the money from France so that they can become member. All
we need is that they can prove that they are veterans or family of veterans.

So in your case, you can be member, also all the children. Each veteran you
know can be member and their children and wife also. This would be a
marvelous occasion that we meet again.

So, please tell me if you are interested, how many people you can reach for
this project, (you can mail your answer to Catherine
(catherine.hervais@noos.fr)

Dear Merle and Mardy, let me know how everybody is today and receive all my
love.

YVON

PS. : Do not send the 10 dollars per person now, wait until I tell you
because the project is not completely finish to be presented. I just want to
know the people interested by a Monument of memory in south of France.

Hello,

Could you please give me Joseph Martel's e-mail address.  Since he was in E Company I would like to ask him if he remembers my Dad (Orville Stubbs).

Thank you,

Lori Richter

Thanks Ben.  Its satisfying to have some one as reliable as you to remind us from time to time of our omissions.  That is the reason why we have such a great website.
