2005 Biannual Reunion
August 15-19, 2005
Savannah, GA.
Gene Frice
Ben and crew,
I returned from So FR,
but had to go direct to DC for several weeks. I saw your note and will
develop an after action report as soon as I get home, about 7 Sep.
However, Claire, Kathy, and others are doing an outstanding job of reporting.
Sure glad we have 'em. Will contact you in a week or so. Things went
great-a hell of a lot better than the static line tour where almost nothing went
right.
Regards, Gene Frice

hi claire,
you must be the daughter that took the picture
of all the guys together at the last nite in lemuy. wasn't that just the
greatest experience ever? i for one will never forget it. we should put
all the stories together somehow. they are too good to lose. any
suggestions?

I will collect all the stories after I hear from
Gene Frice and Leo Dean and put them in one email and send them to
the participants or whoever else is interested.-Ben

Dear Ben,
I would like to purchase a copy of the revised
paperback
Paratroopers Odyssey;
however, I do not have an address for Bob
Christie where we
are to
send our check. If you would be so kind as to
send me this
information
I would appreciate it very much. Thank
you.

Ben, The price of the "Odyssey" is $22.50. Send the Order and money to
me. Check to be made out to 517th PRCT Association and sent to my address. I
forward the orders to Donna. Looks like we will have a good crowd at the mini in
January. I will have details of the Dinner theater in the next Thunderbolt which
should be out shortly. The price is $39.00,including transportation. The French
Monument Fund is over halfway to our goal. The details of that are in the next
issue. We just had a warning on TV of a tornado in Hardee County. Floyd Polk
lives in that area. Pray for those unfortunate people up there. They were hit
bad by "Charley." Love to Fran. We were up in your area last week (New Hampshire
and Vermont). We wanted to get away from the heat and we had some cool
weather, big time. 30's,40's and 50's in the morning. Keep up the good work.

Request Copies of Military Personnel Records
Welcome to our online
military personnel records request system. Use our system to create a customized
order form to request information from your, or your relative's, military
personnel records. You may use this system if you are:
eVetRecs Help and
FAQs
http://www.archives.gov/research_room/vetrecs_help.html
A military veteran, or next of kin of a deceased, former member of the
military
The next of kin can be any of the following: surviving spouse that
has not remarried, father, mother, son, daughter, sister, or brother. If you are
not the veteran or next of kin, you must complete the Standard Form 180 (SF
180). You can obtain this form from Fax-on-Demand, or download it, then mail or
fax it to the appropriate address on the form. The SF 180 may be photocopied as
needed. Please submit a separate request (either SF 180 or letter) for each
individual whose records are being requested. You may submit more than one
request per envelope or fax.
How to Initiate a Request for Military
Personnel Records:
Click on the "Request Military Records" button to start.
This will launch a separate window.
Enter the required information in the
system to create your customized request form. There are 4 steps that you need
to navigate. The system will guide you through the steps and tell you exactly
which step you are on.
Print, sign and date the signature verification
area of your customized form. If you don't have a printer, have a pen and paper
handy and we will guide you through the process. This is important because the
Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. 552a) requires that all requests for records and
information be submitted in writing. Each request must be signed and dated by
the veteran or next of kin.
Mail or fax your signature verification form to
us, and we will process your request. You must do this within the first 20 days
of entering your request, or your request will be
removed from our
system
Note: If you experience problems using eVetRecs, please see the
eVetRecs Help and FAQs
page.

Ben,
All of these wonderful reports about Southern
France are surely true. My father, brother and I experienced the
same thing when we visited Le Muy in June. Michel Soldi,
the curator for the Le Muy Museum showed us where
1st Battalion landed on the morning of Aug 15th. If I remember correctly, it is out by
Les Arch? I think?
