at work,
was The secretary answered the phone and says who is calling??
I tell
them and 10-15 minutes later still no Jack??? So I hung up the
phone??? a
few months later I ask Jack at Palms Springs, how come you
don't come to
the phone when someone calls you????He claims I answer my phone
on the
first ring every time???????? That was the time I got up early
one
morning in Palm Springs and find Jack Dunaway jogging in front of
the
hotel, back and forth maybe 30 Ft. turning around and back the
other
way?? He could not see me so I just watched and he carried on with
this
for 15 minutes or so??? No one else saw him that I know of,
O! Yes Jack
claims he gets up everyday at 5:17 sharp??? Tom mcAvoy

Comments: Joined H Company about July 1943. Was with the 517 until it
was deactivated. I was transferred to the 505th when the 517th was deactivated.
Stayed with 505th until January 1947 when I transferred to

Got to thinking about old times yesterday. Some of you might
remember
William (Bill) Edgren, better known as Peagreen. I think that
Bill was
originally part of Headquarters Company ,3rd Battalion. He was
on duty
as part of the Third Battalion S4 Section from Italy until we broke
up in
the summer of "45". Bill was from La Grange, Illinois. He
was married
and his father in law was a big Mushroom grower. Bill used
to say "Come
see me, after the war and you will find me knee deep in horse
shit. I
went to Camp Sheridan, Illinois in late August 45 and attempted
to
contact Bill. Found out that he had died in his sleep shortly after
he
returned home. He was 21.
