Hello,
Marie-Louise Spencer
France Remembers (and is grateful).
Our daughter, Michelle, just came
back from a trip to
Provence. While there, she talked to a man in the
street.
He complimented her on her fluency in French. She told him:
My
mother was born and raised in Nice where she met a
"parachutiste", my
father. He answered her, when you get home, tell
your father Thank You! She
cried and so did I when I heard.

Comments: For awhile
now, I have been thinking about whose served with my father, George William
Hartman. My father survived the D-Day Invasion and The Battle of the Bulge, but
lost his battle with cancer in 1972. He was with Company B. If there is anyone
who knew him, please email me, it would mean so much. I knew he received the
Purple Heart, but just found our he also received the Silver Star and several
Bronze Medals. I thank all of you who fought as well as died for our country's
freedom. I am truly grateful.

Hi Ben,
Thank you so much for your
response. I did see my father's name in the Christmas roster. My
mother said he was a part of the D day invasion... I guess she confused that
with the invasion of Southern France.
Thanks also for including my entry
in the next mail call :) Hearing from someone who was with my father would
bring so much more meaning to not only what my father did for our country, but
for all of the men and women who served then.
If I don't respond in the
next week or so, it's because I am having surgery tomorrow. My computer is
on the 2nd floor and I will be temporarily living on the first floor for 1-2
weeks. I hope everyone will understand, because I would love to email or
talk to someone so very much who knew my father.
Have a Nice
Week!

Ben, In response to Dorothy McKenzie's message in Mail Call a
weeks ago, recently, I talked to Yoko and Jack Dunaway, ninety something. We had
a nice chat. He said he hadn't received the Thunderbolt recently, so I sent him
copies of my first two. Jack is very much alive, in fact, he invited us to visit
him if we ever get to the Los Angeles area. Fat chance of that, but it would be
nice. Bob
