A note to
Gene Frice: We were relieved in November 1944. It was approximately
ten days before Thanksgiving that year. I finished a ten day extension on
the lines to orient the troops that relieved us. I got down to the
bivouac area near Nice on Thanksgiving Day thinking a Turkey dinner would be waiting.
Everyone was in Nice living it up. Bill Pencak and Doc Dan Dickenson were
at the camp and we did get enough food to keep us alive. As I recall
we arrived in Northern France about the 10th of December, via 40 and
8s, for a rest and enjoyment of Christmas. You know what
happened ten days later. Gene Frice said in the last mail call that
there was a video about the trip to southern

Gene Frice Ben,
Gene Brissey Gene Frice ask for approximate date that we were relieved
from combat in Southern France. Approximate date was November 15. I recall
seeing our planes flying below us as we were perched on a mountain in the
Maritime Alps on Nov. 11, 1944.

Concerning my note in Mail
Call 722, relating to "video" of So France trip and Lory Curtis's request for copy for his
dad (Bud). I may have failed to be more specific. What I intended to say was, "I
took some video of the trip or portions of it." The
video is at my home in CA, and I am in OR - also I have not even reviewed the tape(s). Will hopefully do so and see what it is I may have recorded. Copies
would certainly be made available. Sorry for the
confusion.

Comments: Well, I just wanted to say that this site is really
educational and interesting too. I think that it is worthy of the veterans of
WWII. Keep up the very nice work.
