Comments: I was wondering if anyone knew
my father Joseph Rubino D Battery 460 PA while he served in Europe. I saw his
name on the Christmas roster of 44. He died several years ago and I remember him
talking about his unit. I would love to hear from someone who served with or
remembers him. I can only imagine that he didn't say much since he was born in
Italy and came back to Italy as an American G.I. I think your website is great!
It lets a younger generation know the sacrifices that our fathers made so we
could all enjoy the freedom we have today.

Dear Ben,
Please share. I remember most all of these times.

Hi Mr. Barrett.
Just wanted to say Hello
from Tammy (my beautiful wife), and I.....along with our new recruit to the
(family) members of the "517th
Parachute
Infant-(ry)". Since Lynzie LOVES for "daa" to fly her
around the kitchen and Living Room, She's showing a helluva' lot of potential as
a "Para-pooper".
(An inside joke
between Mr. Frice and I- also, I can personally assure you that the latter part
of the word (pooper) is totally accurate........ She is a "Pooping
Machine"!!!) Also, the fact that she calls me "Daa" isn't a typo.
She started calling me "Daa" when we were in China (later in the trip since she
scared of me in the beginning since she hadn't been around men much if any) and
I liked the sound of it much better than "Dad", "Da-Da" or "Daddy" so we just
encouraged her to refer to me as "Daa".. :-)
Lynzie Li had her first check-up w/ the International Adoption Clinic,
(part of UAB Medical Center which is supposedly the best and best equipped since
it's also a college which pays for and receives grants to buy the best of the
best equipment and Docs, Specialists, Pediatricians, etc... I'm sure you
remember when my step brother, TJ, had the wreck about 4 or 5 yrs. ago where he
was thrown from his flipping 4-runner over the dividing wall on the interstate
and onto the opposite side of oncoming lanes where he was ran over while
unconscious, and then backed back over (not intentionally- the poor guy thought
that he was running over debris from the wreck.) and was hanging on by less than
a 5% chance of surviving for 10 days. (he's now working full time although his
motor skills aren't as good as they used to be) If he would have been
flown to anywhere other than UAB, there's no doubt in our minds that he would
have never made it. Luckily, he was taken to UAB where they had an
experimental device that drained the fluid and monitored, to the absolute exact
amount of, pressure on his brain, or he would have been in big trouble.
ANYWAY, the psychologist and pediatrician that works and the I.A.C. are both
REALLY great at their jobs and are used by almost ALL international adopted
babies which is all that they work with. When she did some simple tests
w/Lynzie and asked Tammy and I a bunch of questions about her interactions
w/Tammy and I as well as how she was responding and bonding w/ Tammy and
I. She said that the vast majority of the Int. Adopted babies take about
4-8 appointments but Lynzie was doing so well, we don't have to see her for any
more appointments which she said was very rare. She also said that Lynzie was VERY
intelligent and inquisitive which are a good sign. Also, she said that she
shows all of the signs that she had adapted to Tammy and I as her "Momma" and
"Daa" very well so we can let the grandparents hold her now.... (thank God
because they were on the verge of going insane... :-))
Just wanted to give an update on Lynzie and her progress. I will
send you some pics. from recently and from our China Trip as soon as Tammy shows
me how to shrink the files where they don't take 2 days to dl them.
Have a great day.
Your
friend.
