Veterans Day is a time to honor all veterans of the armed
services. It is also a day to be proud that we are citizens of a nation
made great by the sacrifices and dedication of all our military personnel, both
at home and
abroad.-----USA

Subject: LE MUY 60ème anniversary,
Signature Americain flag, 60 years 48 Stars
Chers amis, ci-joint quelques
contact
Un français
reconnaissant.
Amitiés.

Rough partial
translation:
Dear friends, here are some
photographs taken at Le Muy 15/16 August 2004 at the time of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Normandy landing in
Provence. The veterans
present this day will remember me for the request
to kindly sign a
star of my 60-year old
American flag -- with only 48
stars. I have
already had signed the first 24 stars
by the veterans who released the 1st
village of NORMANDY "Ste Mère Eglise" ; I
have completed 24 stars
with the veterans having liberated the 1st village of PROVENCE " MOTTE". Which been able N'ayant recontré
with "LA MOTTE", it is at Le MUY,
that I was to meet the GI'S of the
517th, 460th, 596th, 551th, 550th. Unfortunately, I was able to get only 12 signatures, thus it remains for
me 12 stars remaining to get signed. I
hope to come to the United States to finish my mission on the occasion of an annual meeting. I will remain in
touch.
A Grateful Frenchman.
Regards.

Ben: tell Lory Curtis I have my
father's (Gerald Nelson) group photo of
HQ 1st. I will bring it and a photo
of my father and have my graphics
staff scan them and email to you. I was
going to do that and then I
thought I read where someone else had or was
going to do that so I
backed off. Cotton Nelson, son of Gerald

Great news Ben, I guess I will wait until you publish it. I am
sure many will want to see it just like
me.
Thanks

Note to the Blue Skies Jumper, El Harger:
No apologies required for not writing after
she was won. What we did after it was won was to concentrate on the future, not
the past. That resulted in interesting and productive lives. I kept track of you
guys in G Co’s 3rd Platoon, including you and those sons of yours who
used to win the marathons in addition to your jumping. In fact, I envied you up
there in the fresh air of those north woods in your outdoor job. It is fun to
concentrate on the past now when we have a little more time. Fortunately Ben and
his son Bob make this possible, without a 3 cent
stamp. Soft Landings, Howard
Hensleigh

Oh, Bob -
You did such a great job interspersing the
photos and the report! We'll add to it as we can - thank you so
much! It really looks great!
